Resource Request

Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Finding a source[edit]

Tips for finding a source yourself[edit]

  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
  • Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
    • Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
  • Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
    • Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE, Taylor & Francis and much more.
  • Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.
  • If the article is paywalled, a browser extension may bypass the paywall. Try Unpaywall for academic journals or Bypass Paywalls Clean (Firefox, Chrome) for news websites.

Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request[edit]

  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
  • Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request[edit]

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
    • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
    • upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
    • email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.

Copyright tips:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
  • Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
  • Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

Endnotes to Motoo Ōtaguro book[edit]

  • Masui, Keiji (1996) [1935]. Introduction. Ongaku seikatsu nijūnen: Denki Ōtaguro Motoo 音楽生活二十年 伝記・大田黒元雄. By Ōtaguro, Motoo (in Japanese). Ōzorasha. ISBN 9784872365009. OCLC 39124125.

For Motoo Ōtaguro

I'm looking for the new introduction and/or end notes which is cited in the Japanese wiki article. This is in a few international libraries, even if you don't read Japanese, finding the right pages might still be doable. It's just a few pages according to the National Diet Library.

Thanks, RoseCherry64 (talk) 21:31, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Doing... Not sure if I can get it. I will try to get it through one of my fellow researchers who works at University of Tokyo. It may takes two-three weeks. --Gazal world (talk) 09:56, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Huge thanks for attempting to get this source. No worries about the wait. RoseCherry64 (talk) 14:27, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gazal world: Sorry to bother you, but do you have any update or know if it's possible for you to obtain a copy this way? Again, huge thanks for attempting to get me this source. RoseCherry64 (talk) 12:30, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@RoseCherry64: Hi. Sorry for my late response. My friend was super busy last month, but I received his reply today. I will get this paper for you this month. I will also try to get other Japanese-language materials you requested on this page. --Gazal world (talk) 15:20, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@RoseCherry64: Send me a wikimail. --Gazal world (talk) 08:19, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Sent --Gazal world (talk) 11:45, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Gazal world: Unfortunately, this isn't the right notes, it's just the original 1935 introduction by Ōtaguro. It looks like it might come from an older printing that doesn't have the retrospective introduction by Masui. The other materials you sent were perfect, enormous thanks. RoseCherry64 (talk) 18:47, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can you tell me again what you want from the book, and from which edition? Any idea about page range ? Please check [National Diet Library] records and give me link of the book. I will request it again. Thanks. --Gazal world (talk) 20:04, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gazal world: The 1996 reprint by 大空社/Ōzorasha. The following text on NDL's page for this edition translates to "Commentary by Keiji Masui, end pages 1-5" "解説(増井敬二):巻末p1-5" NDL ID which is what I need. Sorry for the confusion and enormous thanks for your continued efforts getting me these valuable resources I couldn't access on my own. RoseCherry64 (talk) 20:30, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@RoseCherry64: Just to confirm. You need pp. 1 to 5 from the 1996 reprint. Right? --Gazal world (talk) 22:38, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gazal world: The pages were described by NDL as end pages 1–5, so perhaps they're either not numbered or the numbering resets for those pages. The 1996 issue seems to be the only printed version containing Masui's introduction. RoseCherry64 (talk) 23:09, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cincinnati Daily Gazette 1835[edit]

I am looking for a source for the newspaper Cincinnati Daily Gazette for the year 1835, or other Cincinnati newspapers of that year. I am not looking for a specific issue or article, I have to browse through it. I'm looking for material on Amos Dresser (see Whipping of Amos Dresser). Things of his are reported as having been first published in this newspaper and experience and training say I should get the exact references (no one specifies them) and check them. I know it has been digitized, but cannot find a path to it. Failing that, a microfilm that my local library could borrow.

Thanks, deisenbe (talk) 16:33, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Worldbruce: Although there is an isbn, it's not a book, but the transcription of a lecture which was then published. It's only 30 page long. I'm afraid I can't narrow it down. T8612 (talk) 23:52, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@T8612: Doing...should have it within a week. Meanwhile, email me so that when I have it I can attach it in reply. Worldbruce (talk) 03:42, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yuqoslav News Agency. September 14, 1983, Wednesday[edit]

Can someone help me find this source, "Assassins of Turkish ambassador indicted. Yuqoslav News Agency. September 14, 1983, Wednesday". It was cited here, but I couldn't find a copy of it to verify. Thanks. ZaniGiovanni (talk) 11:31, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ZaniGiovanni: Does a look here help? -- Doc Taxon (talk) 16:25, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The link Doc Taxon posted is machine learning data, fed from Wikipedia and other sources.
The English news builletin from Tanjug is in the British Library Daily/Weekly. I could not find any reprints archived in newspapers.com or newspaperarchives.com. The citation is quite ambiguous, it might also be a translated headline from a Serbian language publication. Finding this is probably a challenge. RoseCherry64 (talk) 19:03, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Asia and Africa Today[edit]

For Benjamin Arsanis. I don't know quite how to cite this but I'm looking for an article that appeared in an issue of the Soviet (?) journal/magazine Asia and Africa Today in 1978. According to Google Books the relevant portion (concerning Benjamin Arsanis) only takes up one page (which Google Books numbers 61). I can't view the full page on Google Books but it says that the magazine was digitized by the University of Minnesota, which in their database have an issue from 1978 if that is helpful. I don't know the precise issue of the magazine more than the year, nor the title of the article.

Thanks, Ichthyovenator (talk) 11:55, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify, Asia and Africa Today (ISSN 0134-451X; 1961 - 1992) appears to be a (now-discontinued) translation of Azija i Afrika segodnja: ežemesjačnyj, naučnyj i obščestvenno-političeskij žurnal (ISSN 0321-5075; 1961 -). I can't help with this, unfortunately; from where I currently am, I only have access to the Russian original of the 1978 volume. — Pajz (talk) 02:41, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pajz: Thanks for the information anyway; I can't read Russian so you don't have to get a hold of the original Russian version. Ichthyovenator (talk) 11:21, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: This is a book around 230 pages. What exactly do you need from it? I'm not sure if it's in my library, they seem to have something from the Alpenvereinshefte series, but I don't know if this volume is in their collection. RoseCherry64 (talk) 16:19, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, Google Books gives no information about which chapter I'd have to look in. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:21, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: You can see the table of contents at DNB (click Inhaltsverzeichnis for a pdf) RoseCherry64 (talk) 16:26, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like this volume is not in the library collection, unfortunately. RoseCherry64 (talk) 16:49, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2002 Brentwood Gazette interview[edit]

The Statutory Inquiry onto the British Post Office scandal recently heard of a "2002 Brentford Gazette interview with Baljit Sethi" (Sethi was a sub-postmaster). I appreciate this is a vague description, but is anyone able to furnish a copy, please? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 10:37, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is no paper with the exact name "Brentford Gazette" in the British Library catalogue. Published at the time, there's Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth times (1983-2008) and Brentford & Chiswick informer (2001-2009). This isn't really findable with that citation, since one would have to look through two full years worth of microfilm. RoseCherry64 (talk) 10:58, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I'm now told this was the Brentwood Gazette, from May 2002. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:57, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update 2: The Inquiry teams have now placed the clipping online; here, titled as above. It's by Ben Hall, but is undated. Can anyone date it? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:38, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Terminator 2 Variety[edit]

For Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Sorry I don't have more info, they're just sources already in the article but I can't verify their contents. I tried Gale and Ebsco but couldn't find them and Gale wasn't working properly, wouldn't let me click links.

@Darkwarriorblake: I can the ones which are from Variety, wikimail me for the PDFs; I'll add ProQuest links / cross off the citations as I get them. Umimmak (talk) 20:36, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I got all the Variety articles wikimail me and I'll send them to you; I don't have access to Daily Variety from the 90s. The UCLA Library page [2] has a useful guide and according to that there should be online access to Daily Variety from April 27 1992-March 2013 in "Nexis Uni" (at least in UCLA's subscription), so maybe someone else here has access to that database. @Darkwarriorblake: okay I Yes Sent the six requests from Variety -- hopefully someone else has access to Daily Variety. Umimmak (talk) 23:15, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Umimmak sorry to bother you but when you found the resources, did the page numbers match? I'm looking through them now and I'm confused why the existning references in the article say like Page 117 (I can't see a page number on the initial page of some of the double pages) but then it'll say "continued on page 37". Maybe that's how Variety works but I'm just curious. Thanks Darkwarriorblake / SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE! 13:45, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, at the "continued from" section, it says "continued from page 108". Weird. Thanks anyway. Darkwarriorblake / SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE! 13:47, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Darkwarriorblake: yeah the PDFs all have the pages in numerical order, but the article starts at the later page and continues on the earlier page. Strange to me as well, probably should have clarified when I sent them. The {{ProQuest}} IDs should have all the page number/citation info even if you don't have access, but I think also the header should have page info? So like "Arnold conquers Gaul" is p. 72, 68 (but in the PDF p. 68 comes before 72), etc. Umimmak (talk) 19:47, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Umimmak, no for whatever reason the double page PDFs only have the citation details at the top of the first page, and only list that page number. The second page, which is of course the first page, has nothing on it so I was getting confused. But you're right, the actual link shows the page numbers, thanks again. A Biographical Dictionary of British and Irish Engravers, 1714-1820 by David Alexander, and some other sources[edit]

Greeting. There's a request for following sources.

  • Alexander, David (2022). A Biographical Dictionary of British and Irish Engravers, 1714-1820. London, New Haven: Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art; distributed by Yale University Press. ISBN 1913107213. OCLC 1286378106. As the first reference work to cover all engravers working on copper in Britain and Ireland 1714-1820, it would be interesting to check for some additional insight on Claude Du Bosc and John Simon (engraver).
  • Alis, Bernard (2014). Mademoiselle Desmares de la Comédie-Française (in French). Châtillon: les Amis du vieux Châtillon. ISBN 978-2-9513219-0-8. OCLC 910889182.. For Charlotte Desmares, as this book seems to be the definitive biography on the subject. For beginning, I'd like to check the table of contents, and some opening parts before going any further. I'm aware though, that there's an earlier 2004 edition of Alis' study that also covers the Swiss banker Antoine Hogguer, Desmares' longtime associate. That edition is also available in the BnF.
  • Courteaux-Enault, Huguette (1993). "Un tableau inédit de Watteau et la Franc-maçonnerie à Saint-Germain-en-Laye". In Corp, Edward T. (ed.). L'autre exil : les Jacobites en France au début du XVIIIe siècle (collected papers). Montpellier: Presses du Languedoc. pp. 131–142. ISBN 2-84062-008-1. OCLC 29386382. For Charlotte Desmares, for the requested thesis' author supposes a painting by Antoine Watteau to be a portrayal of Desmares and her company-mate Philippe Poisson, and is giving some insight into Desmares' life.
  • Potiquet, Alfred (1878) [1876]. Jean-Baptiste Santerre, peintre: sa vie et son oeuvre (in French) (2nd ed.). Magny-en-Vexin: Petit. OCLC 458077934.. For Jean-Baptiste Santerre, given that it's the earliest modern biography of him. It has never been republished since 1878, and is certainly a public domain work per U.S. copyright law at least, as more than 130 years has passed since Potiquet's death in 1883. Nevertheless, it's not available in a digitized form via Gallica, archive.org etc.

In case one is interested, there's a similar, earlier request in the French Wikipedia that feature #2 to #4. Thanks from Russia with love, Gleb95 (talk) 10:09, 23 February 2022 (UTC).[reply]

Need page[edit]

Need a text with this person: Arnau Guillem de Llordà. Approximately pages ~1285-1290. Preferably urgently

For List of co-princes of Andorra

Thanks, Jolf Staler (talk) 14:32, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jolf Staler, per the instructions above, please "Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc." I can likely access the first one some time next week, but am not sure if it will still be relevant for you at that point given the apparent urgency. If it is, please add the author and title to this thread so I can find this section when I'm at the library. — Pajz (talk) 12:44, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Doing... #1 (some time next week, provided they let me in [covid protocols ...]), — Pajz (talk) 13:27, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Jolf Staler, sent #1. The scanner lost the first two scans (of the title page and the imprint) for some reason, which is a bit unfortunate in this case as I'm somewhat sceptical about the citation given above. For one thing, Rafael Dalmau is the publisher of the work. The library I used doesn't list any author in its catalogue and I doubt that one person authored this entire work (but I don't know). Second, I don't know what this ISBN is for but it differs from the ISBNs for vol 6 and vol 6,2 (which is where I found the requested entry) that I see in other catalogues (eg https://lhiai.gbv.de/DB=2/XMLPRS=N/PPN?PPN=647194414). — Pajz (talk) 16:48, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Pajz, yes, everything has arrived. All that was needed was page 1287; everything you need is on it. I just forgot that the "issue=2" parameter was not reflected in the cite book template. Many thanks. The second query can be executed in "passive" mode. The whole book is not urgent. Jolf Staler (talk) 17:00, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Pajz, could you resend me the pages from this request ([3]). Apparently he accidentally deleted messages in the mail, and these pages are desperately needed. Jolf Staler (talk) 20:02, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Pajz, could you please get the rest of the dictionary pages from this query, where all the representatives of the Foix dynasty would be. Jolf Staler (talk) 21:05, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Jolf Staler, so all Foix entries except cols 187 through 206, which you already have? Maybe - it depends on how many pages that is. Right now the volume is on loan to another library user, but I've placed a hold on it (so: Doing...). (Also, for the future, please add new requests by creating new sections rather than expanding existing threads. Thanks.) — Pajz (talk) 20:15, 2 April 2022 (UTC) (Edit: Added {doing}, 21:38, 2 April 2022 (UTC))[reply]
Pajz, yes, I need other than these pages. Do not tell me, this is not an electronic library? Just a couple of months ago I was given access to the Wikipedia Library, through which I have access to other archives of books, magazines, newspapers. About adding new requests: I thought if you request this book again, then someone other than you will start looking for these pages, although (I thought so) you could still have access to the missing pages. Jolf Staler (talk) 20:34, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What I mean by "a library."
Jolf Staler, I'm not sure I follow. This is a page to request journal articles and short excerpts from books. Since not every journal or book in the world is available electronically, many requests here are resolved by someone personally making a scan of the physical volume in a library (some editors request the scan be made by library staff). So when you requested a few pages from the Dictionnaire de biographie française a while ago, I ordered the volume at my library, went there, scanned it, and sent you the PDF. "The Wikipedia Library" is an electronic platform for Wikipedia users which provides access to a number of electronic databases. It is extremely useful, but, of course, not every resource is available from there. // As for the new requests: There is nothing wrong with requesting more from a resource, I'm just saying that it's always better to create a new section (at the bottom of this page) since only then will it be seen by everyone interested in helping out here. People monitoring this page primarily look for new threads, not further comments in old threads. A new section can be created by clicking the "Click here to create a new request" link at the top of this page. Also, if more and more requests are added to existing old threads, these get increasingly cluttered and it becomes much less likely that someone willing to help will find the request there. So my advise is: When a thread has been archived and you notice later that in fact you need additional pages from that resource, just click "Click here to create a new request" and just file a new request that way. — Pajz (talk) 21:38, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Multan Sun Temple and Aurangzeb[edit]

  • Dasti, Humaira Faiz (1998). Multan, a province of the Mughal Empire: 1525-1751. Karachi: Royal Book. OCLC 606363947.

For Multan Sun Temple. Please scan pages relevant to the following activities of Aurangzeb in Multan: (a) destruction of Hindu shrines (esp. a Sun Temple), (b) commissioning of mosques, and (c) persecution of Hindus. This won't cover more than 5 to 10 pages and frankly, there is a chance that nothing about these issues exist at all.

Thanks, TrangaBellam (talk) 14:22, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Doing... Probably Tuesday. However, depending on the structure of the book, I'm not sure I will be able to identify these pages reasonably quickly, so I might only be able to send you the table of contents and/or the index. These types of requests are always difficult to handle for people that have no clue about the topic. — Pajz (talk) 19:22, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
TrangaBellam, I've sent you the table of contents and the index. Please understand that given the very rough table of contents I just don't have the time to identify the particular pages that address your points (a)-(c). If you think that it might help you to have, say, chapter III(F) and/or some other chapter, I'm happy to provide it. — Pajz (talk) 20:11, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For:

Per the OCLC, both editions are located in The British Library, St. Pancras, London. Unfortunately, I do not have any page references to suggest, and the work does not appear to be available online or via a snippet view on Google Books.

A discussion, grown stale, took place on if the modern 1st Division (1st (United Kingdom) Division) is the same as the 1st Division founded in 1809 (1st Division/1st Infantry Division). The above book was self-published by the modern division and the title implies such a connection, but I was hoping if someone is able to access this work they could skim it to see what it has to say (for example, a direct continuation of history from 1809 to 1985/1993, or an adopted lineage such as being formed in the 1960s and adopting the title and insignia of a disbanded prior formation etc.) or if it provides a list of commanding officers? This would be very beneficial to the above two articles, as we can firm up what they both cover and word them more accurately if they are the same or different formations.EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 14:47, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@EnigmaMcmxc: just an FYI, but Hereford is not in Germany. Ironically, the British Army has spent quite a lot of its recent history ensuring that didn't happen  :) SN54129 16:06, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@EnigmaMcmxc: More or less the same request was listed here recently for 101 days, without attracting any response, so you'll probably need to go deeper than just posting here. Some possibilities:
  • Ask a specific Wikipedian who in the past has been willing to do research at the British Library, such as Miyagawa or Andrew Davidson.
  • The volume is also held by the Imperial War Museums,[4] and the Grenadier Guards Library,[5] although those copies may be no easier to access than those at the British Library.
  • Try writing to Dr. Peter Liddell Wilson, 6 Mansfield Road, BALERNO, EH14 7LA, United Kingdom.

Sajaypal007, I cannot, it's not available from any of the libraries that I frequent. (I assume you're referring to the 1981 work of that exact title, British Library record. There are works with similar titles by the same author.) — Pajz (talk) 23:31, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pajz: Thanks for the reply, similar title as in? Publication year or edition doesn't matter, if you have access to the same book, do send first 6-7 pages i.e. 1 to 7. If it is different book altogether by the same author then leave it. Sajaypal007 (talk) 04:47, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sajaypal007: I don't have access to those either, but there's apparently a volume titled Rajasthan : before Second World War (a socio-economic study), published in 1986, also by Jagdish Singh Gahlot, SUDOC (which is described in exactly the same way: "xvi,175p.,[32]p. of plates", so maybe it's a reprint or just a typo by the library); and there's a volume with the similar title Rajasthan before Second World War : a socio-economic survey (Bodleian Library), with a similar description ("xvi, 173 p. : ill. ; 23 cm" + foreword by T.N. Chaturvedi). I just pointed it out for the benefit of whoever can help fulfill your request. — Pajz (talk) 08:22, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Information (website) article paywalled[edit]

For Sunny Balwani. "The Other Sunny Balwani" appears to be the most in-depth investigative journalism piece available. "Many details about Balwani's peripatetic life are reported here for the first time, the product of interviews with more than a dozen sources who have known Balwani at various stages of his life." It is paywalled.

Open question. Institute of Ethiopian Studies, public domain photographic works.[edit]

Greetings! The Institute of Ethiopian Studies says they have many photographic works, quite a few that are now in the public domain because of age. They also frequently provide pictures to authors for their books, i have one of these books, but i probably can't just scan some pictures and upload it here? I have sent an email to the two mails at http://www.aau.edu.et/ies/ies-library/periodical/, so far no reaction.

● Open question: Does Wikipedia/or individual editors have acces to this institute collections? For Ethiopia related articles

Request for Pamirian folktales (in German)[edit]

  • Levin, Isidor. Märchen vom Dach der Welt: Überlieferungen der Pamir-Völker. Die Märchen der Weltliteratur. E. Diederichs Verlag, 1986. pp. 94-100 (Tale nr. 11, Sultan-scheckiger Hund); 120-128 (Tale nr. 15, Die drei Frauen des Padischah); 249 (classification for both tales); pp. 327ff Anmerkungen (only the commentaries on tales 11 and 15). ISBN 978-3-424-00883-8.

The first tale is for Animal as Bridegroom, since the book indicates it is a variant of Aarne-Thompson-Uther Index type 425B, Cupid and Psyche. The second tale is for The Dancing Water, the Singing Apple, and the Speaking Bird, a tale of type ATU 707.

KHR FolkMyth, is the second edition (1989), https://d-nb.info/890323623, fine as well? They have the same size (also page size), so I don't think the page numbers will be different. Might just be a reprint with a few typographic fixes. — Pajz (talk) 20:47, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If the contents are the same, regardless of edition, then I see no problem with using the most recent. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 02:03, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet published (to be released June 1, 2022), according to the publisher. Since my library should provide me acess to the most recent titles on taylorfrancis.com but I cannot access this one, I have doubts that the volume is already available from taylorfrancis.com. — Pajz (talk) 11:43, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Intelligent Human Systems Integration 2021". Springer International Publishing. January 25, 2021: 490. ISBN 9783030680176. {{cite journal}}: Cite journal requires |journal= (help)

For Advanced eXtensible Interface This is an open-ended request for getting book sources, which seem to be quite common when looked up on Google Books, to help improve this article. This is to remedy excessive primary sourcing. Thanks, 2601:647:5800:1A1F:3581:FAF4:6129:CFEA (talk) 03:15, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I can access this, but how would you like me to send it to you? Per WP:COPYLINK, I can't just upload it somewhere and then link it here. Files are usually sent via email between registered users. DanCherek (talk) 12:30, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm thinking of this as more of an open-ended request for sources like this, that mention the topic. I don't think direct access to the files is needed. A list of citations will do. 2601:647:5800:1A1F:F4E8:3E1B:616:B8B3 (talk) 22:31, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Access to Russian-language books about Caucasian/Dagestan folktales[edit]

  • Ганиева, Айбике Мамедовна. Свод памятников фольклора народов Дагестана [Folkloric Collection from Peoples of Dagestan]. Тom. 2: Волшебные сказки [Tales of Magic]. Мoskva: Наука, 2011. pp. 175-179 (Tale nr. 11), 378-383 (Tale nr. 42), 523-526 (Tale nr. 60). ISBN 978-5-02-037393-8.

For Animal as Bridegroom.

The tales seem to be variants of ATU 425. I believe that there is a section named "Типологический анализ сюжетов" ("Typological Analysis", or something to that effect), near the end of the book. If there is such a section, it has most likely classification and commentary on the tales. I just need for tales 11, 42 and 60.

For these, in short: for convenience, the first pages of the tales in their original languages, with the original language names; plus the Russian translations plus commentaries (if they exist).

For The Dancing Water, the Singing Apple, and the Speaking Bird.

(Same book, but I separated the request) Tale nr. 28 in this collection is titled "Арц-Издаг" ("Silver Izdag"), mentioned in the article as one of the variants from the Dargin people. Adding a request for the Russian translation and commentaries on tale nr. 28.

Hungarian Folktales about a snake bridegroom from Székely/Bukovina[edit]

  • Sebestyen, Adam (1981). Bukovinai Szekely nepmesek [Szekely folktales from the Bukovina]. Vol. 2. (Annotated by Agnes Kovacs.) Szekszard: Tolnamegyei Tanacs V. B. Konyvtara. pp. 9-16 (Kégyókirályfi); 267-272 (Kégyó kirájfi); 395ff (Jegyzetek/Notes on the cited tales).

For Animal as Bridegroom and The Serpent Prince (Hungarian Folk Tale).

The pages refer to tales told by a Hungarian/Székely couple that lived in Bukovina. Hungarian-American scholar Linda Dégh noted that their tales, while referring to a serpent husband, contain the "hostility of the husband's fairy family" and the Magic Flight episode (Dégh, Linda. Narratives in Society. A Performer-Centered Study of Narration. Folklore Fellows Vol. 255. Helsinki: Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia, 1995. pp. 143, 146). Based on Dégh's brief descriptions, I suspect these tales are more closely related to type ATU 425B (Cupid and Psyche).

I only need the text for tales Kégyókirályfi and Kégyó kirájfi, plus the notes on both tales (written by folklorist Ágnes Kovács).
