"It was a little challenging. Initially Ed rooted the sewer from the clearout near the house as far as it would go towards the curb but the water didn't drain from the clearout even after a couple of tries. The house has no curbside trap/vent so it was hard to tell what was going on. We discussed options and chose to try a hydro jetter clearing. Ed had to go get the water jet and came back to clear it out. Encouraging enough the line had somewhat drained by the time they got back. He ran the jet and also the camera which showed the line was in decent shape and clear as far out to the street as we could get it. In the end he charged me just for the jet. Gave me a quote on installing a house trap at the curb and explained what he expects is going on at the sewer junction in the street.

"Described job when estimate was requested. Plumber expressed surprise when he found out 3 toilets needed work. Initial estimate was to replace angle valves and fix leaks. Price was agreed upon and angle valves were replaced. Plumber thought the leaks were due to the flapper gaskets so he "flipped" the gaskets on all 3 toilets. One toilet obviously needed a new filler so he used a new filler I had provided. Leaks continued on 2 toilets. The leaks were actually due to the fillers, not the gaskets. Was told I would need to schedule a new appointment later in the week for a new (additional) estimate to fix the remaining toilets. Second appointment came and plumber did not show even after I called to inquire. Next day the plumber arrived with a helper. Two fillers were replaced. Noted that because of the design of the toilets they needed to be moved to get access to the connectors.

"It was the week of Passover and Easter. The coronavirus had San Francisco completely locked down — everyone was required to shelter-in-place. That’s when my basement drain started to back up and then discharge sewage. Juan of “A2Z Plumbing” was the first to respond to my call for help. He offered the most competitive bid and was able to gather together a crew to start the very next day. Unfortunately, my pipe to the city sewer line was not simply clogged, it was broken and needed to be replaced. Juan came out before the start of the work to see if there was another option that would be simpler and less expensive. Since the work had to be done at the worst possible time he offered to help me out by discounting some of his fees. Juan even came back at the end of the job to inspect the work. “A2Z Plumbing” has never had to advertise. They built their business on referrals. "Mike responded right away to my request and came over the same day to check it out. He unclogged the pipe and did the inspection with the camera. I do need to replace the terra cotta pipes but Mike gave me a few options to maintain the flow for now so I can do the replacement when I'm ready. He is very knowledgeable and I never felt like I'm getting pushes into repairs. I would recommend him for all your plumbing needs.

"Magic Plumbing has done work for us in the past and they have always been good. This time we needed some shower handles put on the correct way (a general contractor who did our bathrooms installed incorrectly and argued with me that it was the way they were supposed to be installed). He also was able to fix a loose faucet which solved our leak. He was in and out in no time and was very professional. I put "Good" for Price because he estimated based on what had to be done and how long it would take him so I didn't have a lot to go by but as I mentioned, Magic has done other work and has always done a good job.
