  • Abacus Plumbing Air Conditioning & Electrical

I had requested quotes from 3 different companies for the same scope. I chose Abacus because they found out that my evaporator coil was under warranty (the other 2 could not get that information from Trane). They came and did the work professionally.

  • Choice Home Warranty

Wonderful! I've usually filed claims online because you know things usually break after regular hours. We had technicians dispatched on a Monday when the claim was filed Friday evening on a holiday weekend and on a Sunday when a claim was filed after 8 PM on a Saturday.

perfect, the technicians came earlier than expected. They knew exactly what the problem was. A/C is working much better.

  • Texas Premier Plumbing LLC

Ben and his team did a great job from start to finish. I needed to replace my existing water heater after it failed during the recent Winter freeze we experienced. The price estimate for a new Rheem water heater and labor costs was very reasonable. Junior and Sean did an awesome job and were friendly and professional during the entire installation process. I especially appreciated all their hard work in solving a difficult problem they encountered and their willingness to stay late and work through it so that I could have hot water by early evening. I highly recommend Texas Premier Plumbing of Texas.

  • Service Express Home Experts
    5.0
I used Service Express several times throughout the years, and I cannot express how much I appreciate them. Mike and Adam, both Lead Techs, and their crew were awesome. I had several things completed: duct redesign/replacement (all of it), vent cleaning (all 16), and dryer line cleaning. Mike provided a detailed estimate before I agreed to the job. Once the job was completed days later, Mike walked me through everything that was completed. I was pleased in what I saw! The entire crew were respectful, courteous and professional. And Gilbert, the owner, is about the nicest and most respectful person I ever met! I highly recommend their services! They earned a lifetime customer!!

  • Rick O's Construction & Remodeling
    5.0
The job became larger as we started the work. Unforeseen large items that needed to be addressed were added to the original plan. Rick was always available to meet and addressed my concerns. Even a year after the project, he has still been available for small concern related to work that was completed.

They identified problem and fixed it on the spot. They were on time with their schedule and very courteous during the visit. Much better interaction than typical contractors. This is an A-1 group would highly recommend them

  • NBL Air Conditioning and Heating

The technician Raul that came to my home and solved my HVAC ISSUES was very professional and knowledgeable of the situation at hand . He understood my problem and proceeded with the necessary repairs and guided me through the entire process , went into detail and elaborated the situation . He did not assume that only because I was a woman that I was incapable of understanding the scope of the situation and did not take advantage of me !! I also had the same perspective from the owner Alberto I believe that was his name , please don’t quote me because I’m so bad with names so sorry! Overall I was very satisfied with their service and I would highly recommend them to anyone ! Thank you NBL AC for your exceptional Service!!

  • NBL Air Conditioning and Heating

Our system was old and we have been advised a couple of times it needed to be replaced. They responded quickly and came out to give us a quote on 12 Feb 2021. Scheduled install for 15 Feb 2021 (the day Houston froze solid. Including my pipes.) We rescheduled for 23 Feb. They finished the install and discovered the vent on the return plenum was undersized. The technician recommended an additional 20x25 vent and rough estimated $200 to $350 to install. I told him I would think about it. Oh boy, I thought, a typical upsell. After talking to my wife we decided to have it done. I called the main office (4:30 pm) and was told a supervisor would come out the next morning and check out the size needed. The next morning (24 Feb) the office called and said after talking to the Tech they realized the size was correct and he would be out around 10:00 am. He came out, cut an additional hole in the wall around the corner from the original and installed the new vent and cleaned up the mess. When I asked how much I owed him he responded "No charge". Our experience with NBL was nothing short of OUTSTANDING. We got a better system, at a cheaper price than another quote. They were quick to respond, quick to do the job, cleaned up after themselves, extremely professional. We have found our go-to central air/heat company. THANK YOU NBL!!

Houston Heating & Air Conditioning

It goes without saying that Houston experiences hot summers and slightly chilly winters. To shield ourselves from the extreme climate conditions precipitated during the summer and to control those randomly cold nights during the winter, homeowners often install the very best heating and air conditioning systems.

The extent to which homeowners weatherproof their homes goes a long way in determining how much money they will save every month. Here are some strategies that homeowners can use to lower their HVAC bills.

Caulking

Caulking around doorways and windows goes a long way in dramatically reducing heating and air conditioning bills. Nonetheless, homeowners ought to be beware of the fact that caulking may increase the levels of common household toxins such as carbon monoxide. Therefore, it should be undertaken by experts.

Temperature Regulation

During the sweltering summers that characterize Houston, it is advisable for homeowners to raise the household temperature especially when they are away from home. A misconception abounds, that cooling a home consumes an almost equal amount of energy to that would have been saved had the thermostat stayed constant. In the frigid winter days, homeowners should also lower their thermostats when not in the house.

Proper Maintenance of AC and HVAC Systems

According to the Energy Institute, the effectiveness of heating and cooling systems depends on how well they are maintained. Procedures that are often overlooked may end up affecting the effectiveness of these systems.

These procedures include the replacement of filters. Typically, filters are disposable, inexpensive and therefore, easy to replace. AC filters ought to be replaced every three months. This improves the flow of air into the heating and cooling appliances, thus enhancing the quality of air inside the houses.

Homeowners should similarly schedule regular inspections of their heating and air conditioning units to ensure optimum efficiency. Neglecting the systems goes a long way in increasing their utility bills - a qualified HVAC company can help with maintenance of old systems and installation of new systems.

Installing a New HVAC System in Houston

There are several resources for homeowners in Houston that need to install a new system:

Houston Permitting Center - research permits and requirements if you are installing a new system or replacing an old.

Schedule a City Inspection - make sure your heating or cooling system is safe and up to code.

Research Angie's List Houston - it's free to read reviews and find the best air conditioning pro.

Useful Energy Conservation Tips

There are a number of tips that can enable homeowners who have installed heating and cooling systems, to significantly lower their utility bills. Those who have AC systems should consider using heat-generating devices such as dryers, ovens, and washers during the cooler hours of the day. In winter, it helps heat the house while it reduces the stress on AC systems in the summer.

To fully benefit from their cooling and heating systems for longer, Houston homeowners should ensure that the units are operating reliably and efficiently at all times.
