Write a ReviewAfter my dad passed away suddenly, my siblings and I had to move my mom halfway across the country. I had never hired movers before, so I did some Google searching and landed on Trinity Relocation. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and gave me a really fair quote for about $7k for a 2 bedroom apartment move from the east coast to the Midwest. He said their hiring the best team that would be doing the move, that they were such professionals, that is who he would want to do his move, etc. This team was NY City Movers. I felt so relieved that maybe something was going to go right. The week of the move arrived and I was told I would get a call on exact day and time at least 24 hours in advance, but that the move would start at 10am. I got a call on the last day of the window I would been given, at about 8am saying that they were 30 minutes away. I called my mom frantically to tell her as she was still in bed. NY City Movers arrived and started packing. Long story short, this so-called excellent team broke multiple pieces of teak furniture. Teak is one of the hardest woods available and the movers literally snapped a dining room chair in half, dented and scratched others, broke off a support beam from the dining room table, and broke shelves off a china cabinet. They also broke an office chair. Any reimbursement will be pennies compared to the cost of the furniture. Honestly, that would all be fine had it not been for the additional cost of everything. Things break, fine. The estimate (which was binding) turned out to be very low. We ended up paying over $9k (more than $2k over the estimate). I do not even know if that is a fair price because nobody from NY City Movers or the brokerage company (Trinity) will return my calls. I received no paperwork at all from NY City Movers explaining the increase in price, just one barely legible inventory. I just got a call from the head mover halfway through the move, saying I needed to pay more money or they could not do the move. I paid it because we really needed to have the move done and I naively figured I would get paperwork later and that would lay out why we had to pay 25% over the estimate. Nope! I called and emailed the office manager I had been talking to, Flor, but she has yet to get in touch (it is been 2 weeks now). She had told me previously that if I called her, she would get me in touch with the department that keeps the paperwork. By not providing me with paperwork and lowballing my binding estimate (with zero proof that the increase in cost was in line with what I had contracted with Trinity since I have gotten no copies of paperwork), NY City Movers has violated federal law. I contacted the FMCSA (the federal agency that regulates moving companies) to file a complaint. I have never taken to the internet to voice my complaints before, but since nobody will return my calls or emails, I feel this is my only recourse. I have never felt so taken advantage of. I have zero faith that I will hear from anyone again since they got all the money they wanted (I worried that they would hold my elderly mom is possessions hostage). Please think twice or three times before hiring this company to move you, especially cross-country.
These movers are the best. They arrived on time and packed up our whole apartment in 5 hours. They also arrived within the expected window after a 400 mile drive. They were professional and friendly. All of our stuff arrived in perfect condition. They also took all the stress out of moving -- our family had no time to prepare for an unexpected move and they made it so easy.
I ve used many moving companies and NY City Movers are the best I ve experienced. Their team moved a truckload of my things up multiple flights of stairs in a Boston walk up without a single complaint after a day of packing in NYC. I will ONLY use this team on any future move. Professionals!!
They packed all of our belongings and stored them in their Brooklyn warehouse where they charged us almost $600 a month when it could have been stored locally for half the price. Upon delivery, we experienced property damage from the lift gate of the moving truck, which we were fairly compensated for by their insurance company. We also suffered two broken televisions, which NY City Movers LLC would only reimburse for the weight at 60 cents per pound by stating they were following the moving contract and that we should have bought additional insurance. Since when should I have to buy additional insurance for a mover to do their job properly? Since their TV Boxes clearly state that NY City Movers LLC has to pack the TVs does not that make them liable for any damages? Also, some items never showed up, but since the packing list is illegible, and they rush you through to sign it, we have no verifiable proof that it was ever loaded. In closing, I am sure NY City Movers LLC will try to say we are so sorry, but accidents do happen, but that does not make up for negligence and un-professionalism. If you are moving large screen TVs, based on our experience you would be better to trust someone else. I would include the pictures, but it is not allowing me.
Stellar service. Flor and Mario and his crew handled all aspects of my long distance move (from Brooklyn, NY to Delray Beach FL) professionally and swiftly. I recommend them heartily.
We hired this company to move a bedroom suite from Long Island to an Atlanta suburb. They arrived on time, did an excellent job of wrapping and packing and were on their way. Delivery was made within stated timeframe. I had taken 3 bids from others before selecting NY City Movers, their pricing was a big factor in getting selected for this job.
NYC Movers appreciate your business, we are happy to hear that we covered all your expectations, if you need movers in the future just give us a call. Thank you for your feedback. Best Regards Leo Lopez VP.
They were a little expensive, for me. Also the New York driver asked for a tip and told me the amount to give him. Both drivers and assitents did good work
NY City Movers, moved my family about a year ago. never too late to leave a positive review IMO. Massive job, 3 trucks from Queens NYC to Central NJ with a few weeks of storage in between. Marco's team was on time and on point from start to finish
NYC Movers appreciate your business, we are happy we covered all your expectations. Thanks for your feedback. Best Regards Leo Lopez VP.
Review by Beth M. in Staten Island. They were great! Very professional, and one of the workers went out of his way to fix a broken chair leg for me, that had been broken.
Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate your business.
They did exactly what they promised. They arrived when they said they would. They blanket wrapped and then plastic wrapped my upholstered furniture. When it arrived, they took all the debris and set it up for me. We communicated by both phone and email. They were easy to work with.
Thank you, it was a pleasure to do business with you.
