There's no place in America like South Dakota. We'd love to have you join us. Come grow your company; live your life; achieve your dreams.
We can make it happen for you right now, because South Dakota Means Business.
We have a lot of very talented members of our team — my Press Secretary Amelia’s happens to be baton twirling! She even gave us a demonstration in the Capitol:
SD is home to some of the best hunting and fishing in the world.
Maintaining these habitats isn't possible without conservationists like Tom Kirschenmann.
Congratulations to
Today is a wonderful day for the students in South Dakota. They are our future. Now, they will be taught the best social studies education in the country.
We want our children to have honest and factual classroom teaching so they can be engaged participants in our civil society.
This wee little fellow is not your average spring chicken. In fact, he’s no chicken at all. He’s the first baby bison born this year.

Whether in a blizzard or a natural disaster, South Dakotans know how to step up and care for their neighbors in a time of need!
Before this week’s blizzard hits, lend a hand to our farmers and ranchers who are going through calving season.
On 7/1, South Dakota’s sales tax rate will decrease from 4.5% to 4.2%.
We are excited to provide this tax relief for the people of SD and will work to deliver a permanent tax cut in the future.
South Dakotans will be paying lower taxes when many other states are raising theirs.

The legislature sustained all 5 of my VETOES.
I VETOED these bills because they were not right for South Dakota. I am glad that the legislators agreed that these pieces of legislation are unfit for our state.
Today, I VETOED HB 1209.
South Dakota has a safe and responsible hemp program that we have worked many years to implement properly.
This bill would jeopardize the effectiveness and safety of our program by classifying marijuana as hemp.
South Dakota will continue to strengthen families and promote life.
The gift of a child too often comes with financial burden. Mothers should never have to take that on alone. I signed SB 75 to guarantee that both the mother and the father equally pay for pregnancy expenses.
Tax dollars should not be revenue streams for evil foreign governments.
SB 189 restricts state and local governments from contracting with Evil Foreign Governments such as China, Russia, and more.
South Dakota will continue to be a beacon of Freedom to the rest of the nation.
The South Dakota National Guard’s 216th Fire Fighting Team were honored during a deployment ceremony at the Range Road Armory in Rapid City, on March 16, 2023, as the unit departs for a year-long federal deployment to Romania in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
South Dakota’s election laws are built with integrity. We have one of the best election systems in the nation.
With these laws, we will further strengthen our fantastic system and provide accountability for the future.
As Winston Churchill put it: I will “Never give in. Never… except to convictions of honor and good sense.” Here, my honor and good sense require me to continue to fight for the permanent tax cut the people have earned.
I signed the legislature's tax holiday. Some help, albeit temporary, for our people is better than none.
Public sentiment shows that South Dakotans want a permanent tax cut. The legislature has failed in that regard, but I will continue to work with them to do what is right.
Funding new prisons is the right thing to do to keep South Dakota safe for our kids and grandkids.
I’m glad that legislators have come to agree and appropriately prioritize the safety of South Dakotans.
I appreciate the work of my BFM Commissioner Jim Terwilliger and the BFM team on this budget.
And I appreciate the legislature for recognizing that it should fund my administration’s priorities to maximize freedom and liberty for the people of the state.
