"Zsolts work is simply exceptional. His attention to detail and upfront explanation of costs and options is not something we have found in other painters or many other contractors in the area in general. He was knowledgeable of and attentive to our concerns for historic preservation of our house from 1922. We wont hire anyone else for painting, plastering, or woodwork."

"Our customer experience with this company started with the initial call. Robert (the owner) called and explained the process for doing the estimate and the project. He wasn't a high pressure sales rep. He clearly wanted to help us make the best decision. Robert was thorough in the preparation of the estimate and contract. He explained everything and was very detailed. Robert pushed out some walls to get more room in the kitchen, breakfast nook and laundry room. Per Roberts recommendation, we removed soffits to give more height to the rooms which resulted in moving wiring and duct work. The subcontractors were all professional, respectful and worked very hard. The electrician team worked late in the evening to get the work done. We added new cabinets to the laundry room and kitchen. They turned out absolutely beautiful and high quality. The gentleman who built and installed the cabinets was meticulous and produced a quality result. Robert and his son, Bronson, were always available and resolved any issues and questions. We love the results as does everyone who has seen the work. We have heard horror stories about broken promises people have experienced when doing a remodel. We feel so lucky to have been referred to Freak Dog Construction! We are getting ready to do an addition to our second story and we wouldn't want to use anyone else! This is a company you can trust and feel confident to use."

How much does it cost to build a deck?
It costs an average of $7,771 to build a deck, with a typical range falling between $4,096 and $11,446. The amount you’ll pay depends on deck size, decking type, deck materials, and additional features like stairs, railings, hot tubs, fireplaces, flooring, and more.

What are the different types of decks?
When building a deck, you will have plenty of ways to customize it since you can choose from different types and materials.
Deck types:
- Wraparound: The classic deck type that features a wraparound porch. Customizable by shape and number of levels. Often has multiple entry points.
- Rooftop: Enjoy the view with a rooftop deck built on top of your home. This deck type works well if you live in a remote area.
- Multi-tier: This deck type is perfect for those with a sloped property or uneven terrain. One level is attached to your home, while another leads to a second area via steps up or down.
- Attached: Built directly off your home for easy, convenient access, attached decks can be rectangle, square, or L- or U-shaped.
- Detached: Have a spacious backyard? Consider a detached deck that you access by a walkway. You can make a detached deck any size or shape you desire, which makes this option great for uniquely shaped backyards or unused space.
You can also customize by deck material, including wood, composite, or PVC. PVC is the most affordable option, but it can get hot in warmer climates. Wood is durable but requires sealing. Composite is a great wood alternative that requires pressure washing. Weigh the pros and cons to decide what’s right for you.
What is composite decking?
+
What is composite decking?
Composite decking is a blend of wood fibers and plastic. While it looks just like wood, it won’t rot or be as susceptible to wear, making it an excellent alternative. You can customize the color of composite decking to resemble everything from white oak to dark walnut and choose various stains. As for maintenance, a light pressure wash as needed should keep your composite wood in great shape.
Which composite decking is best?
+
Which composite decking is best?
The best composite decking depends on your needs, preferences, and budget. However, capped composite decking is considered to be a great choice because the boards are “capped” (aka coated) with a polymer coating to protect the wood fibers. The synthetic coating will protect your deck from rot, mildew, and mold, as well as the elements, extending its life.
How long does composite decking last?
+
How long does composite decking last?
With proper installation and maintenance, a composite deck should last 25 to 30 years. Depending on the manufacturer you choose, your outdoor decking material may come with a warranty as well.
