LEE DOES HARD WOOD FLOOR WORK, BUT I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD DO A CORK TILE INSTALLATION. HE WAS EAGER TO DO THE JOB, CHARGED A VERY REASONABLE FEE. WE WERE FLOORED (EXCUSE THE PUN) WITH THE QUALITY OF WORK HE DID. THE FLOOR LOOKS GREAT. THEY ALSO APPLIED THE SEALER OVER THE TOP OF IT. WE HAD SOME STRANGE SCHEDULING NEEDS BECAUSE THIS WAS DONE AROUND THE HOLIDAYS. LEE ACCOMMODATED EVERY NEED AND WAS ALWAYS ON TIME. THERE WERE SOME DAMAGED SPOTS ON THE FLOOR FROM CONSTRUCTION, AND LEE CAME BACK AS NEEDED TO FIX THEM. CORK FLOORS ARE EXCELLENT, BUT EXPENSIVE. YOU CAN SAVE A LOT OF MONEY BY HAVING LEE INSTALL IT

He was very helpful and very knowledgeable about cork. The work was done very well; a lot of attention to detail. He cut the cork around the corners very nicely and he was very professional

I worked with Pam and she was wonderful. She came to the house for a detailed estimate at a convenient time for us. She came with samples and I chose right then and there. The order took some time but came in correctly. The day of the installation, it took a little extra time due to some uncovered water damage - which the installers took care of and I was charged fairly for. They were careful about nails, as I have kids and pets. I know it took extra time and they were very polite and professional. I would definitely use Bradford Carpet in the future

LEE IS GREAT TO WORK WITH. WE WERE GOING TO BE GONE FOR A FEW DAYS, AND SCHEDULED HIM A MONTH IN ADVANCE TO DO THE WORK. The work they performed went very well. The tile work came out great and so did the bamboo floors. The cork flooring had a manufacturer's defect(the squares were not cut perfectly straight and caused large gaps). Since it was a glue down floor they had to put the squares down(we did not notice the gaping until they laid down the 3 row). To make a long story short, Mike Russo(the owner)went out of his way to assist me in getting a refund from the cork manufacturer. He also is the tile installer and does a great job. He is meticulous, super detail oriented and takes pride in his work. The reason that the final cost was higher than the estimate was due to the fact that my wife changed her mind on a few things in the bath

I contacted Emerald City at the beginning of August after purchasing a discount coupon on Angie's List for kitchen design. John came to my house a couple of days after I called. We had a discussion about what I was looking for and he sketched out a plan. He had some good suggestions about how to best utilize my space. He brought catalogs and samples; I picked out what I wanted and he put together a quote within a couple of days. I also went to Plymouth to the showroom and picked out other items (sink, tile, granite, cabinet pulls). After the cabinets were ordered, it took around 3 weeks for them to be made. The demo work started on September 7th and took less than 2 days; they were fast and clean. The house was built in 1952 so the floors are less than perfect but Paul was able to make it level. The cork floor had to be transitioned to the oak hardwood floors in my living room and dining room. It was seamless - fit perfectly with no threshold needed between dining room and kitchen. A small threshold was needed between living room and kitchen but it matches so well, you don't even notice it. As soon as the cabinets were finished they were installed. Matching crown molding all around finished off the look and really pulls it all together. After cabinet installation, the template was made for the granite countertops. The fabrication of the countertops took two weeks (which is exactly what I was told - 7 to 10 days). That was the only part that was kind of painful - because the sink is under-counter, I could not have the sink installed until the counters were ready. Three weeks without a kitchen sink was a long time for me. When the granite counters were installed; it was well worth the wait! Amazing! John also coordinated the plumber to install the faucets the same afternoon and I was back in business. The counters were cut and finished perfectly; they pulled it all together and the whole kitchen looks absolutely beautiful! There are a couple of finish items that still need to be completed but those will be done in the next week or so; these are due to some change I made during the process. Emerald City will also be installing a tile backsplash as soon as I can decide what I want. The estimated time of completion was the end of September - right on schedule. From first meeting to completion was 8 weeks. Also, there were no hidden "extra" costs - the price was exactly what was quoted. John, Shayna and their crew are knowledgeable, professional, talented and most of all extremely nice people. They also leave the work area as clean as they can so you're not left with a huge mess. I would recommend them (and already have) to anyone looking to have this kind of work done in their home

One word: oustanding! John, Tom and Steve did a phenomenal job on our basement. The work was done as promised, on time and on budget. John and his team were always very attentive to our daily comments, and if we were not 100% satisfied with something, it be fixed the next day. The vanity that showed up was not the right one, and John worked with the supplier to get the right model delivered in no time. In addition, we had a couple small things to fix in the house and John took care of them at no charge. Overall, we could not be more happy with the way the project went, and we are very glad that John was there to take care of the entire project for us. We used John's services several times over the last few years for various maintenance and upgrade projects and we have always been extremely satisfied. John is extremely proactive, and he will more often than not anticipate our needs before we even have a chance to mention what we want! Finally, the subs that John uses all have the same work ethics that he does, which makes a huge difference. We will definitely call John again for our next project

Another fabulous job! Demolition went smoothly. They had to wait two weeks for delivery of kitchen floor and didn't complain, and that must have thrown off their schedule. Punch list completed perfectly (which in my experience is hard to find). Beautiful paint jobs. Work is superb; the guys are very considerate of the fact that I'm trying to live in the house while they're working, they clean up every night wonderfully and (I don't know how they do this doing demolition work) they keep the dust and debris to a minimum. My life was really disrupted very little. Also Dave has really good ideas and is realistic and honest about what can be done and what can't. His suggestions are usually much better than what I had in mind and usually cheaper. I can't say enough about these guys

I needed to replace my floor after a flood, and my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to go with a natural water-resistant floor, such as bamboo, or cork. We decided on bamboo, and I did a search of Consumer Reports online to find the highest rated bamboo, which according to that publication is Teragren. I did a search online to find local dealers who sell Teragren, and started contacting them. My boyfriend I both have irregular work schedules, I work three jobs, and he is a freelancer. I made calls and left messages last Sunday, the first day that both of us had off in 2 weeks. Only one flooring vendor picked up the phone, Stephen Trabucco. His store wasn't open that day, but when I told him my situation, he made an appointment that day to open the store just for us, so that we could see his samples of Teragren. He showed us some other waterproof and water resistant products as well, and gave us his recommendations for the best options. We went to look at some of his recent work, a wood patterned tile floor in the lobby of the Hampton Inn in Revere. We ended up following Stephen's recommendation to install a waterproof vinyl floor tile in a realistic wood pattern. When one of the tiles came loose on the edges in the process of curing after installation he came over right away and secured it. The floor looks perfect and beautiful, professionally installed with attention to detail. Stephen was the first vendor for our reconstruction project. After meeting him we were confident that we did not need to interview any other candidates for our floor, and we were not disappointed. He is professional, highly personable, and very accommodating. Our floor is beautiful and we have received many compliments on it from people who think it is real hardwood. It is obvious to us that Stephen takes pride in his work and cares about people, a winning combination

These guys did an awesome job. I called them and they got back to us quickly and came out to assess the floor. We had an old laminate floor in our kitchen and then a giant thick threshold to the adjoining wood floor in dining area. They ripped up the laminate floor. They updated the subfloor and put down the new wooden floor. Here's why we were so impressed - they not only were able to PERFECTLY match the new wood floor with a very old wood floor - they sanded the old floor and refinished it. But they were able to level the two floors so they were one and get rid of this awful hump of a threshold. The price was very fair and they did such a good job. I thought they were super professional and responsible and Ron seems like a really good guy. We had other people come and give us some wild prices and no guarantees of matching the wooden floors or truly leveling the floors. But these guys did and I would absolutely hire them again for future hardwood floor stuff!!

Highly recommend! The floors were stained form a light oak/maple to a very dark walnut mixture. The floors came out exactly as we wanted. Phil was prompt in giving an accurate quote. When he came to check the floors the weekend before the work started he recommended fixing floor boards in two spots that had been damaged by a spill or pet. The final cost was as quoted plus $120 to repair the floor boards. Work began and finished as scheduled. I will absolutely use Phil's Floor in the future

our It's a familiar story: You start a tiny home improvement project that should last one day and cost very little money. Then you get in there and find a complete horror show. We hired a "large home improvement store" to rip out the carpet in our basement and install laminate floor--easy peasy. Except 10 minutes into it they ripped up a section of carpet and discovered that floor was completely not level, in fact, it was off by inches on the sides. So they packed up and left, leaving us in the lurch with a half destroyed basement. After searching around and making calls (job was too small for some of the companies, or they didn't do that kind of work) we found Rich at 3 G's. He picked up his phone even though he was on vacation with his family, listened to my crazy ramblings, and came to check out the mess a few days later. Rather than undertake a super expensive route of pouring new concrete to even the floor, he devised a very clever system of shims to level it out. We were under the gun to try and get the basement done before we left on vacation, mostly because we needed to move our pet chinchilla down there to stay cool while we were away (I know, if you had nickel every time that happened...). Rich has a very kind heart, and he and his co-worker made it happen, working late and on weekends to finish. They also found some mold in the walls while they were taking off baseboards and took the time to put Kills on it. The job ended up being more labor intensive than he originally thought, but he honored his price quote. Not only did they move furniture and put it back at no extra charge, they cleaned up the site every day---I could have wept with joy. The end result was a stress-free vacation, a beautiful new room for us to use, no more smelly wall to wall carpet, and a happy chinchilla who spent his summer in a cool mold-free room! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Rich and his crew, and will definitely be hiring them again

This is the third time we have used Universal Hardwood for floor work. The first time we had the floors in most of our 80 year old home repaired, sanded and refinished. We were very impressed with the work that was done and when we had additional work, we called Universal. Our second job done by Mike and his guys had them install a new cherry floor in a kitchen renovation, stain the floor and finish coat it. We also had the rest of the house not refinished previously completed. The new kitchen floor made our old house look contemporary. A great job! This summer we had a smaller garden condo in Brookline in need of some floor work. Three years ago we had Universal out to estimate the job and they were honest enough to tell us it didn't quite need it yet. In July, Mike came out to look at the job within a day of my call. He agreed it was time to refinish the floor. Within a week the floor was complete. Although he warned us some of the staining might not come up, the whole floor looked beautiful. And to our surprise an excellent job was done on the clean up as well. Should we have another floor job to be done, Universal will be our first and only call

The first indication of suspicious activity was during the final stages of the hardwood flooring when the "foreman" George tried to tell us the finishing moldings he installed, matched the rest of the floor. They didn't ( I guess he thought we were blind or too old to care). Then the cork flooring for the kitchen was only partially delivered but "George " went ahead and installed it anyway...It didn't match the second shipment which came from a different batch, so he had to re-order and reinstall portions of the kitchen floor.When he was moving the frig to install the new cork flooring, he "kinked" the water line and started a slow leak into our floor! The next day after I discovered where and how the water had flooded our entire kitchen and portions of the new floor in the family room; the company owner approved replacing everything. We had to wait a week for the new cork flooring and had to settle for tiles that didn't exactly match, but the floor was finally installed.
