Description of Work
I contracted Russell west of american contracting to do some concrete work in my back yard. The agreement was 25%upfront 25%after 5 days of work and 50%at the end if the job. After about 2.5 days of work over a 7 day period he pestered me for the next 25% installment, rekuctently I fave it to him. He did 2 more 1/2 days if work and said he had no money to pay for the concrete and needed more front money after I told him no he stopped all contact. I threatened to dispute the credit card pmts already made as he violated every aspect of the contract, he still didn't respond. I disputed the charges and got my $2250 back as the credit card company agreed that he did shorty work setting up concrete forms that weren't attached just leaned in place and at a height of 6.5 feet. They were to be approx 3-4 feet high. I told him based on the vague pictures he sent everything was too high and not properly supported, he continued to construct them. They job he was going to do for $4500 ended up costing me $11,500 to rip out the crsp he put up and redo everything right. And this was from a guy who does side jobs. The lowest professional company wanted $26,000 stating if Russell had never touched my yard it would only have cost 16,000. The guy who did the job said the same it cost me about 25% more to undo and fix what he did. They are the second worst contractors I have ever delt with. I WOULD NOT HIRE THEM TO CUT MY GRASS. WORST attitude, professionalism and over all just plain ship workmanship. |Don't hire

We had a concrete back porch that he was going to tear down an re-build using wood; he was going to install a bottom and top back porch. He ended up only doign the top deck, and he only did the floor and ceiling, we have no railing. He never put the steps up to the deck he didn't complete. He tore out a second railing that wasn't replaced either. He was supposed to point and tuck the bricks on the side of the house, which he did not do. He was supposed to do our box gutters, which he also did not do. He tore up the front sidewalk to our house; he repoured it, but didn't do it correctly. He left big gaps by the house and he was supposed to angle the concrete so water would run away from the house but didn't do that either. We still have all the debris from the project; the big pile of concrete has been here since mid April. He took down parts of the downspouts and never replaced them, so my downspouts are hanging all over the place. The bottom patio was supposed to have a deck put on the bottom. He gave an excuse during the planning that that when they built the wood frame it would be too high for the bottom deck, he was going to level the concrete pad so the bottom deck would fit, but he again didn't do that. We paid him for all of those things to be done. He did a side retaining wall and a portion of a retaining wall on the bottom part of the deck that was crumbling.
