Dennis Guerard came out to my house and replaced two outdoor light fixtures and installed a phone jack in the first floor apartment bedroom. I had found and purchased the lights beforehand. Dennis absolutely knows what he is doing and it shows. He was polite and professional. In a funny little coincidence --while researching my house at City Hall, I discovered Guerard Electric wired it for electricity when it was built in the 1950's.

Everything went well. He was in contact to re-confirm appointment and arrived on time. We went through the problems with my lighting in the basement which he repaired with no problem. He then repaired a light in a closet which wasn't working (there was something wrong with the lighting). He was on task and gave some ideas about outdoor lighting when weather would permit. I would definitely use him again for whatever electrical problem I might encounter.

I am happy to report that Ken and Ken Jr. both came, could do everything that I asked, did it for a reasonable price and EXPLAINED everything to me. They spent all morning and were very responsive, came when they said they would. I have had contractors say that they had to go through the foundation to put a switch on my outdoor light, these guys drilled a hole and put a switch up, no big deal! I would highly recommend them.

$500 is way out of line.No show, then late. Broke the glass door on the overhead light. No offer to reduce the cost of his work. No offer to fix the broken glass. Pleasant guy but not recommend or use again. Very disappointing.

Lloyd quoted to my husband a price of $75 over the phone for this job, and was told that we were considering other offers. Lloyd then called me and said, "I told your husband $75 but this is a pretty simple job so I can do it for $50." The work was performed while we were at work; no bill was left and he said he would mail us a bill. When he did so, it was for $75. I called his company immediately but had to leave a message. I indicated he had made an error in the amount, and that he should call me back. He never did, despite repeated calls and messages. Bills continued to come, phone calls were made, never reaching Lloyd. Finally, after a bill threatened to go to collection, my husband faxed a letter disputing the charge, and received a call from Lloyd. He claimed that he had worked at our home not once, but twice (not true, we had only recently moved in when we called about the light) and that I "must have misunderstood" the quote. Very unprofessional. Don't use him.

Recent Review: Extremely well. The project ran on the planned 5-week schedule plus one week in total delay for two causes: more extensive repair to back wall of house than was known before demolition; section of granite counter had to be returned for re-cutting to correct from single to double sink. All work was done quickly, cleanly, and accurately. The subcontractors were well-coordinated by Interstate. Everyone was pleasant and courteous. Every single day's work happened when and how we were advised. Interstate kept us constantly informed, supervised the work closely, asked for our feedback throughout. The result is beautiful. We are 100% pleased and will use this company again. And, here is the best part: The design developed by Interstate, working with us closely on every detail is extremely effective. The layout of the kitchen, the choice of materials, the lighting, the finishes... it all looks just right and practical, on top of being very attractive. We found Interstate online in a list at the Better Business Bureau web site (Springfield). We selected them from among several choices on the basis of their proposed approach to design and contract.

Super Service Award Recent Review: 1) SOS electric arrived 1 hr after my call and identified quickly the small fire at the back of the motor as the cause of dead filtration system of my inground swimming pool. Fire was caused by inproper contacts between the switch and the motor. SOS Electric replaced partially burned contact into proper one and soon filtration system was up and running. 2) Light over garage door didn’t have motion sensor. SOS Electric went to Home Depot and got the new light with motion sensor. Soon it was installed properly, adjusted to optimal sensitivity and works perfectly.

He returned my call promptly, listened carefully to what I needed, and was able to go out to my house within a few days to look at the space available for the two needed light fixtures. He then gave me excellent advice on the type of fixtures that would fit, and the exact sizees I needed to order, as well as what locations would work best for connecting them to the existing wiring. Using his advice, I was able to order the fixtures, which he then came out again to install. He obviously has good skills, but he was also prompt, efficient, honest, and very professional.
