Last November, I signed a contract with Ronald Scott Bennett of Alexandria, Virginia (â Scott Bennettâ ) to have him renovate my kitchen. He was paid $21,000 and nothing of substance was accomplished. It turns out that Mr. Bennett was in the process of ending his relationship with the contractor, DreamBuild of Fairfax, and Mr. Bennett repeatedly misrepresented or concealed facts essential to performing the work. For example, he never revealed that he was no longer with DreamBuild and that he lacked the contractor license necessary to perform the work. He represented that he purchased cabinets for the job when he never did, and he represented that he was seeking permits from the county when he never even applied for a permit. When confronted with the facts, Mr. Bennett admitted that he had made â bad decisionsâ and that I am owed â restitutionâ â but he had no money to pay me back. He claimed that his lack of performance and dishonesty was due to a personal problem which, out of respect for his privacy, I will not put in print. Whether Scott Bennett is a criminal will be for the police and courts to decide; at the time of this posting, he is being actively investigated by detectives in two counties based on several complaints against him. Regardless of the outcome of those investigations, Mr. Bennett, based on our experience, is incapable of taking on, much less completing, any home improvement job.

We had the same experience as Evan G. from Arlington. Ronald Scott Bennett portrayed himself as a partner and co-owner of the company. He signed a contract with us in August 2021. We paid about 60% of the contract by the end of September 2021 to pay for materials, including an emergency payment of $5000 to pay for countertops and reserve them because prices were about to go up. Then heard nothing about our project for months. Finally, in early 2022, Scott kept saying they were going to start any day. Months went by. Repeatedly, we asked for any ballpark timeframe of when our project would start. Scott finally had a team demolish our kitchen on July 5, 2022. It was almost a year since we had paid well over 50% of the cost. A few things were done (painting, refinishing floors) Then all of a sudden Scott decided we could not use the cabinets we had picked out and paid for in October 2021. Has to reorder them. This was over a month after the kitchen was demolished. Then he says we have to wait 4-6 weeks for cabinets to come. Then after we keep asking for a status report, tells us cabinets are in but work cannot commence because they are behind on another project. Sets start dates for installation and then would cancel them the morning the crew was supposed to arrive. Did that three times. Kept saying the holdup was another project in front of ours that was delayed. We realize something is wrong....and sure enough, we find out that most of everything Scott had told us over the duration of the project was untrue. He had at that point received basically all of the money on our contract but had never purchased any of the materials. He took the money and ran. We then found out he was not a co-owner or partner of Dream Build. The real owner of Dream Build Fairfax, William Roulidis, stepped up to get our kitchen done. William got our kitchen completed by around Christmas, 2022, but not before we had to pay for all of the cabinets again at a much higher rate because Scott had never purchased any of them and prices had gone up. If you are out there and have had dealings with Scott, please contact Detective Parsons in Arlington at 703-228-4172, or Investigator Kunkel in Fairfax County at 571-474-6064. There are at least four victims spread throughout Arlington, Fairfax, and Loudoun. Our ultimate kitchen completed by William Roulidis is beautiful, but this interaction with Scott acting as a co-owner/partner of Dream Build was horrible and upsetting when we realized how much money he took from us.

Scott is a liar, a thief, and a fraudster. I paid him to remodel my condo, and all I got was seven months of lies, delays, and gaslighting. Now he refuses to refund me, even though he agreed to do so in writing. Please do not do business with him or this company. Look up his former company, Dream Bath America, and you will see that he has a demonstrated history of cheating people. I am currently filing a police report and a civil lawsuit against him. He even had me send money to his personal account via Zelle, supposedly to pay for materials, which was all a lie. The biggest mistake of my life.

I interviewed many companies and Dream Build had the best turn-key approach to an all inclusive remodeling package. The design process was very straight forward and we chose our material within 4 hours for the entire project. Every team member was professional and respectful.

Iâ ve hired many companies but Dream Build is by far the best not only in project pricing but the communication was updated seven days a week. The project took longer than expected but the quality was absolutely worth the wait. Highly recommend them!

Dream Build Fairfax, LLC was able to help me bring my design ideas to life to help me update a home I recently purchased. With their help I was able to give the home a look that anyone would love to come home to. I will recommend them to all my friends and family.

Scott and his team are experts at what they do. From design to demolition to remodeling they take pride in their work. We are grateful for their skilled work that has resulted in a kitchen that is the showpiece of our house.

They were good to work with, offered a great product and really liked their method of pricing everything. While the other companies we reached out to for job estimates quoted is a range of cost, Scott gave us a firm quote. Ben and Billy were great and while I was unable to visit the site each day, due to work, Ben sent pictures of updates on the job site. The job did take longer than originally stated, but there were a couple permit issues with the county. That being said, it’s been done very well and we couldn’t be happier with the end product.
