Indianapolis Fireplace Remodel

We moved into our new (existing) home in Sept 2021 and wanted a complete re-do of our fireplace. And a 3rd bay added to our garage for storage space of our lawn and other outdoor equipment. Having contracted Spivey Remodeling in the past at our previous address and being very pleased with their work, we contracted them again for our new home. The old fireplace was stone from top of chimney down to the foundation. The new fireplace is very elegant and a stand out from what it was. The garage addition turned out super! It blends in with the rest of the house and the neighborhood. It looks like it was always there. Thank you to Spivey Remodeling and crew.

Godby Hearth & Home have an excellent selection of fireplaces, mantels, fireplace doors and all fireplace accessories, the best in the City we felt. Their showroom is impressive and they maintain books of pictures showing varieties of fireplaces. They were helpful and understood completely when we backed off additional fireplace remodel work, after discovering this type of work is relatively expensive; we were considering a more extensive remodel, but for now decided to stay with new fireplace doors only. It did take two separate visits to get the measurements right and we wish the fireplace door samples available (colors, materials) had been larger to make our decision with, but overall we are very satisfied with the end result. We hope to replace the mantel next year and will feel comfortable dealing with Godby again.

Replaced leaking chimney cap, chinked missing mortar on chimney, replaced rotted siding on back of chimney, replaced rotted decking and joists under the firebox, upgraded wood firebox to gas including installing gas line for the firebox and kitchen stove and finally removed old tile facing to fireplace and replaced it with granite. The quote was comprehensive and the detail convinced me that his company would provide superior execution versus two competitors whose bids were respectively higher and lower. This was a job that involved multiple trades (plumbing, chimney, tile/granite, structural framing, finish carpentry and drywall) so a competent G.C. was a must and Kurt delivered on that. The sequencing and execution of the job met promise dates. The one dim spot was the granite subcontractor who was a bit difficult to work with but Kurt immediately intervened when needed including showing up at my house within 30 minutes of calling him during the install to make sure it was executed correctly; on his day off no less. The final quality of the job was top notch. The exterior siding was thicker and better sealed than the original, the masonry was in better shape than when it was originally constructed and finally the fireplace looks clean and modern. I would definitely hire Workman Services again.

We did purchase a new fireplace screen. Technician came out and made a template of the opening. The actual screen fit perfectly.

They did a great job. This was an old fireplace mantel that had 3 different pieces. They first came out to assess the job and gave me a quote and scheduled me for the following week. The gentleman that showed up to do the work made sure that I was happy with the job and even caulked part of the mantel and made sure and cleaned up the mess he had made.

My husband called Steve Scully and spoke to his wife on the phone. He explained what we needed and unfortunately they did not offer exactly what we needed, but she discussed many options and was extremely helpful, even though we were not able to hire them. She even recommended someone who could do the service we needed. My husband was very impressed. Hope we can use them in the future!

I contacted Godby Hearth and Home to purchse a new fireplace insert. My old insert was not reliable and therefore I had not used it in several years. I have an underground propane tank in my back yard. I first searched Angie's List, found the company and gave them a call. The person who responded was quite helpful, asked appropriate questions, and advised me to come to the showroom and see the inserts for myself. I did so and went with a modern lookkiing ventless model. If I hadn't gone to the showroom I'm not sure I would have known that such a choice was available. The company also honored the Angie's List discount. I placed the order on Jan 16 and the insert was installed Jan 30. However, gas wasn't getting to the insert. The tech waited while I called the propane company, talked to a man from the company, tried a few different things but the result was the propane company rep need to come out (the problem was a faulty regulator). Once gas was getting the the insert a rep from Godbys calledme to walk me through the prcess of igniting the insert (this was at 6pm so he would be sure I was home and in front of the insert). Unfortunately I had a little difficuty following his directions and he immediately offered to send the tech out on a day and Time convenient to me to show me how the system operated. The tech came out yesterday, walked me through the process and I'm now good to go.

Booher was on time, great prices, made us love the remodeling process after several bad experiences with other companies.

The work crew showed up exactly when they said they would and quickly got to work. They came and ripped out the old unit which had never worked from when we bought our house, and we had to wait a few weeks for them to install the new one, which was a little h****** my young children. But once they came in and installed the new one and made it so it was operational it is better then we had hoped!! I personally had never owned a fireplace in my previous residences, but family and friends who had have loved it and compliment it all the time!
