This is something we need to consider as well. In the Drupal ecosystem, to my knowledge all of our modules are provided free of charge. If we make the barrier to entry for providing one's time and services for free higher, what's the impact? How much innovation is lost? :(

Just how dejected have the module maintainers become? drupal.org/project/slider do not even care if it works for D9. I understand them. I have a great D9 module. But just uploading it to D-org is so much red tape and hassle, I don't bother.

I love that is helping clients to make decisions based on their needs first and foremost. The open source ecosystem needs more of that! And IMO pairing expertise and recommendations like this a pretty solid business model.

I'm migrating some client sites to D9, some to Backdrop. We make recommendations to clients based on their budgets and site complexity, but ultimately their decision. One client decided on D9. Should have switched to Backdrop or WordPress. Handful are switching to none of above

There are a lot of reasons people have given as justification for why they haven't, can't, and won't migrate from D7. Check out the comments! Pretty insightful.

IMHO, if you're running a D7 site on core and contributed modules, the opportunity to rebuild a modern D9 site is a leap forward in excess of 6 years that is probably analogous to Mountain Lion to Monterey or Vista to 11. How can you justify NOT doing it? #BiteTheBullet

One of those D7 sites is Drupal.org. Upgrading D.O has to be a monumental effort involving hundreds or thousands of volunteers. Upgrading a single, complicated and large D7 site for a single person or small team can feel just as overwhelming.
