    For American cities, the important part here is you can't just "ban cars" and expect things to change. As a culture, we must decide to invest in our communities, and build infrastructure for safe and comfortable use of other transportation modes.

    We identified 12 measures already implemented across European cities that have measurably reduced cars. The most effective combine charges/restrictions for cars + investments/campaigns for walking, biking, public transport. Figure by !

    Never forget, a 13-year study of a dozen cities found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for ALL ROAD USERS. And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. As for sharrows, it’s safer to NOT have them. V/
