Outdoor DesignsI contacted Wes at Outdoor Designs this Spring for help with my landscaping after the 2021 Winter Storms. Like many, the storms destroyed all the agave and cactus in our xeriscaped front yard. Wes came out for a consultation, and we devised a plan to rip out the dead plants xeriscaping and lay new sod and add some other features. Wes knows his stuff and provided all sorts of interesting background on Central Texas plants and grasses. Wes' prices are competitive, and the work and design were outstanding. His team did a great job, and they've been with him a long time. We still get compliments on our new lawn from our neighbors and friends. We went from worst to first-place yard on the block. Anthony & Sylvan PoolsAs a long time Angie’s List subscriber (15+ years), I have posted reviews of numerous companies (35+) that have provided exceptional service for my wife and I, both at our prior home in Dallas and now at our new home here in Austin. Of all the companies reviewed however, there is only one that has warranted multiple reviews and that company is Anthony Sylvan Pools (A&SP). They were one of 5 pool companies we engaged back in 2018 to submit proposals for an elevated pool and deck at our new home in the Austin hill country. Their design proposal (in 3D virtual reality (VR) form that you could literally fly around and through to explicitly see and actually “feel” what you would be getting) blew us away and in addition the cost was approximately one third less than the next best competitor. Needless to say we awarded them the contract, and construction, while challenging (e.g., as high as 10 feet above ground, huge thick concrete forms with 7 tons of steel, several hundred cubic yards of packed road base below deck, pool equipment below water level, etc.), proceeded reasonably on schedule with few hiccups. In the 2 years since commissioning, we’ve only experienced 1 issue of significance, which was a failure of the heater igniter that A&SP quickly isolated and replaced under warranty. The purpose of this review post (our 3rd) is to try to convey how thrilled we are with every aspect of our life that is now centered outdoors around our pool and deck. We along with several members of our family and friends are swimming, sunning, eating, visiting and/or view gazing poolside virtually every day of the week, which is exactly what we were hoping for at the outset. If you’re wanting to build a new pool and your area is served by A&SP, I highly recommend you give them a call to see if they can make your dreams come true as well…- John M.

Her team are all very decent and kind people, and all super talented. We have done multiple projects with them, ranging from having a tree removed after a storm to installing a new fence to major backyard renovation work. He was able to provide me a quote quickly and was much more competitive than another company I got pricing from. I am doing a major backyard renovation and needed grading done prior to new concrete being poured and sod laid. CQS Construction, LLCThere is not enough good things I can say about Edgar and his crew. I hired him to do 1 job - my driveway. But after a string of bad contractors it was immediately clear I was dealing with a different caliber of person who truly cared that the job was done right. So I hired him for all my other renovation needs...from fixing a bad exterior paint job - he did a very custom lime wash finish, taking the time to fill in all the gaps in my trim and bricks to ensure my house was sealed and looked clean, my paved sidewalks, sealed my deck, built a planter, and then a massive overhaul of my main staircase inside. In the Spring I plan to hire him for even more work. I trust him like family. Speaking of, he even did a very special project...taking a bridge in my backyard that my Dad built for me before he passed away, and making it a special accent piece with a beautiful railing added. His attention to detail and the time he takes to ensure he has thought through everything is rare and so appreciated. A previous contractor built laandscaping that was against city code and Edgar immediately recognized the issue and cmne up with a unique and beautiful solution. And as an added bonus, he carved my son and I's initials into our new, one of a kind paved driveway. My house is totally transformed, inside and out and having peace of mind that it was done with care and top expertise is priceless.- Raimey J.

Will's Plumbing & Testing ServiceThis project began after a random guy stopped by the house (we just purchased and had up for re-sale) and told us that the plumbing was collapsed under the kitchen area. We asked a plumbing company we had done business with before for an estimate ($13,000) and thought it was quite high but knew this wasn't a simple project. That plumbing company had been at this property before and already had a disk from the previous year when they ran a camera through the lines. They told us there was the collapsed line under the house and we would need to bypass the plumbing under the house and add a lift station. I checked Angie's List and contacted Will's Plumbing after seeing such great reviews. We began with a couple of estimates back in August 2012. Ian came out to investigate to be able give us an estimate. Ian, a co-worker, and Cindy (from their office) spent time reviewing our existing disk but never saw a collapsed line that the other plumber claimed there was. To make sure they didn't miss anything they came up with a three step scope for the project that included costs. We also asked them for a worst case scenario, which they also did. Each step of the way, I was very informed and dealt with a very friendly staff. They had to tunnel under the house from two separate places and Pedro, the subcontractor who did the tunneling, was excellent. We completed the job last week for half the "other" guys estimate and it was fixed the right way. We can now put the house back on the market knowing the drain will function properly.- Adlen S.

A plumber and his apprentice survey the area where I once had a traditional gas water heater-- going tankless plumber stated that they would get bk to me with their charge. I received a email stating: "Thank you for the opportunity to bid on the tankless water heater install. Unfortunately, at this time we will not be submitting an estimate. Please keep us in mind for future projects." Unfounded- I called to understand the reasoning. All I received was that my request was not up to city code--- Heck how would I no that-- asked to provided the quote w/ city code-- nothing yet. The gentleman were professional but left me with a bad taste at the end of receiving that email. communicating with clarity would have made feel much better in moving forward. Their loss --

I usually do plumbing myself, but I was rear-ended by a guy, I was in the hospital He came out and snaked it, he put in a granular acid and it cleared the drain completely, while he was here, and saw that I was injured, He took and disassembled the air conditioning compressor, sprayed it and cleaned it for me, and also cleaned the pool drain, he also went out to get me 3 sprinkler heads, he went above and beyond, he did the things that I usually do, and he was great, Joey McDugall, was excellent and he was the star, I couldn't say more good things about them, especially Joey, and the pricing was very reasonable. I have recommended Joey to a friend, it was a wonderful service too.
