Magnolia Home Remodeling GroupWe had a three “room” project completed in November 2020: Framing - Removed back wall of house and part of the roof, rebuilt ceiling, installed beam, and rear wall Kitchen/Dining Room - Full gut job….new electrical, insulation, walls, floors, backsplash, appliances, paint, fixtures, etc. Deck - New from scratch. 17x17 with a pressure treated frame and timbertech composite decking, rails, balusters, steps, etc. ...since they were going to be replacing the roof where the new section was built, they also replaced our entire roof. The cost was reasonable relative to what it would’ve been to replace just the smaller portionn of the rebuilt roof. The subcontractors were all very professional and quality was high across the board. Here are the important points: -Communication - Stellar for the entire duration of the project (negotiating, permits, selections, day-to-day, inspections, etc.). Vic was our point person but had another person help when needed (permits, payments, etc.). When I needed something, it was Vic I worked with. We worked almost exclusively by text but got on phone calls when the situation called for it. -Schedule - Before we started the project, Magnolia claimed the project would take 4 months. I believe this would’ve been projected to be 3 months if we weren’t operating in a pandemic but the materials were a concern based on the initial plans the architect drew up. The entire project ended up taking 9 weeks from demo day 1 to the final inspection. Very impressive. -Pricing - Magnolia is not cheap but you’re paying for a contractor that’s experienced and proven in certain areas (e.g. kitchens, roofs, etc.) and has established relationships with the subcontractors they use. -Subcontractors and quality - Kitchen designer was flexible with what we were looking for but we had another kitchen that we used as a near mirror-image of what we wanted. The one thing that may be a concern here is that if you don’t know what you want, there might be a lot of back-and-forth to arrive at a final design. Roofers, tile/paint crew, etc. were all top notch. Overall a great experience. This was a high anxiety experience going in and Vic was professional and kept things moving very quickly and well ahead of schedule.- Anthony D.

Deck GuardianMy experience with Deck Guardian (DG) was exceptional from beginning to end. I had interviewed 6 different companies to on how to restore my elevated deck (a resurface using Trex products), but during the sales process Raul Burgos from DG stood out. He was totally knowledgeable on all aspects and options on how to construct my deck and followed up with a very comprehensive and detailed offer that was quite competitive. He responded clearly to all my follow-up questions one-by-one. Though my bids were submitted in October, 2020 I did not want construction started till the Spring of 2021 and this was not a problem at all for DG. On my project start date in 04/2020 all the materials and dumpster arrived on time that morning, followed by my deck builder Stefan and an occasional assistant. Stefan knew exactly what he was doing and built the deck perfectly over the course of the following 8 days save two for rain interruption. He came and worked long hours in a professional, quality, and careful manner being sure not to harm our adjacent patio, shrubs, and flowers. The noise level was very subdued given the amount of rebuild required. My occasional interactions with the owner Ion also went very well – to the point, direct, and responsive. DG is a world class Deck Building Company that I highly recommend.- Laura A.

Jim and this company are amazing. From the time they come for the estimate until the job is complete you get very personalized care. They are meticulous while they work. Very clean and neat and put everything in place every day before they go home. Their work is unbelievable! They built us a beautiful window seat and then built a whole new banister and railing for our complicated staircase. I have never come across a more reliable, honest, hard working company. I would never call anyone else to do any of the projects in my house. The workers are efficient, timely and so pleasant to have around. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I only give 5 stars for perfection and flawless execution (which is a high standard I know and I don't give out many). There were a couple of issues that we did have (not having a dumpster on site from the beginning, leading to a pile of debris, still waiting on a final clean up for some concrete that got on our driveway) NONE of it realted to the deck itself however. If you are looking for a deck to be built, I encourage you to contact Deck Guardian (DG) for your decking needs. We used Deck Guardian (DG) for our recent deck construction. We were looking to do a large deck spanning 1/2 way around our 27 foot above ground pool. I got several companies to give me estimates. All of the companies "quotes" were merely a final number written on a piece of paper or a simple email. Not Deck Guardian! The estimate we got from DG was detailed and explained EXACTLY what we would be getting and how the cost was calculated. Head and shoulders above the rest. Were they the cheapest? No, but they weren't the most expensive either. When we decided to go with them, we were invited into the show room and were given many different options for our decking materials. All of the other guys offered 2 choices- wood decking or TREX. DG had an entire section of colors and styles of not only decking, but also railing and finishing touches (such as the option to have lights installed in the posts). DG then came out, and created an absolutely BEAUTIFUL deck for us! They even made sure that we passed all inspections (even fought it out for us when my town failed us on the final inspection (for some reasons the town made up)) and got us through everything. in all, we are EXTREMELY pleased with the entire process (Ion and Dave were our main points of contact and Marlin was our builder). The final product is AMAZING and we have gotten a TON of compliments! See pics below

I cannot praise Keith and his men strongly enough. The caliber of their work was supreme. The materials used were of the highest quality and their work was meticulous. They began the date agreed upon, showed up early every morning, put in a full day's work, and finished this significant job in just 3 days. They cleaned up so thoroughly that there is no evidence that major construction just occurred. Our deck is so solidly built that I am convinced that it could survive a major hurricane.

Our job was to replace 3 custom windows with transom windows. All options available were discussed and great care was taken to make sure that we would be happy with the final product. Chris at Magnolia was very responsive whenever we needed to contact him with all calls being answered directly or we received a call back very quickly. This was very important to us. Once the windows arrived installation was completed quickly, cleanly, and professionally. Do not hire this man - Jonathon Powers with Powers Performance Construction (Originally from Brooklyn, now in North Carolina). He is a con man. He will sell you a bag of goods and look slick in the beginning, but then he will beg for money the whole way through and then run for the hills the second the job gets difficult. He could not problem solve his way out of a paper bag! Just to name a few problems from his last job with us; water is still coming into the house, poor workmanship, did not pay attention to important details, says he is going to do one thing and then does something completely different, put baseboards back on and decided to not install the electrical outlets (just left them out completely), took months more than what he said to finish the job and never finished, took the last check and ran, job was not even near completed - the list is endless. Oh, and did I tell you about his temper. He will not guarantee his work and you will never see him again. Trust me, when I say there are other much better choices and you would be wise to "run" the other way!
