I ordered this NEEWER TL40 USB Streaming Key Light Bar because, as a wearer of glasses, I am often troubled with hard-to-control reflections in my glasses from panel-lights when I Zoom or Facetime. And I oftentimes have similar issues when photographing glossy products. Sometimes it is very challenging to position soft-light panels without causing glare on the surface. This light is an interesting alternative, offering plenty of illumination that is still soft lighting, but with much easier to avoid reflections. This bar-light seems to work very well for these applications.
I like that this light has color rendition specs of CRI 95+/TLCI 97+. The Newer TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) spec is most applicable to digital imaging, and 97+ is excellent indeed. Additionally, the light is easily adjustable to any color temperature from 2900K-7000K, as well as adjustable from 0-100% brightness. The controls on the back of the bar are easy to use and pretty self explanatory.
Also included are 12 ‘scene modes’ for special effects, which I do not have a current need for, as well as App Control for either mobile device or desktop that connects via Bluetooth, which I have not tested.
I have a number of NEEWER products, and most all have been nicely designed and robustly constructed. This product is no exception, but there is one feature I really wish it had, and that is wireless operation. Even though the product description somewhat confusingly mentions a “[USB Type C Charging Port]” there is no battery to charge, merely a Type C power input. You must plug it into a USB power supply to operate. I find this very limiting. I really wish they had built a LiPo battery into it. As it is, I’ll just have to deal with cord-management for the included 2-meter long cable.
That said, I really like this bar-light for the special applications I have mentioned. I think it will be a very useful addition to my lighting ‘tool box’.

Seriously a VERY impressive light.
This light has impressed me on a whole new level. My son needed a light for his desk to facilitate his drawing, and this option fit the bill perfectly. I honestly wasn't expecting such effective results from this light. The light bar features a fully tiltable mount that is easy to adjust and stays firmly in place. It includes controls directly on the bar for full functionality. The stand arrives disassembled but is very easy to assemble—just slide the upright into the base and tighten the screw on the bottom. SIMPLE. The upright is adjustable in height and equally straightforward to use. Everything moves smoothly and holds its position well. I'm seriously impressed by this light. Powered through USB, it is bright enough for any task on your desk, and if set up behind a monitor, it would serve excellently as a key light for streaming. The app is also simple to use, connecting very quickly and easily, and is very straightforward in helping you get what you need out of it.
