Item arrived on time and what I like most about it is it's easy to set up and it comes with a carry bag for easy transportation. This is the first time I tired using the lantern modifying and I like it because it distributes the light at 360 degrees in a very nice and soft way. It's great for photographing children as they tend to move a lot and this modifier provides enough light to cover all areas. Great product!

I've shown it on one of my Bowens flash heads, with the modeling lamp lit. You can see that the interior silver reflector creates nicely even coverage. One fantastic feature that isn't really documented. You can see a circular area on my front-on shot. That's "loop" material, meaning that you could easily create a light blocking disc with some dark material and a little Velcro tape that would give you more of a beauty dish vibe. Just one of the ways this modifier can punch far above its weight.
Also included is a segmented "curtain" attachment. You can see in my pictures that it can deploy in various ways to make this more of a traditional softbox by blocking some of the "lantern" shapes. The parts closest to the diffusion/lantern component are silver reflective material. In the parts that extend past that component, it's just black curtain. Once you put it together, you'll see how it can be deployed. In my photos, you'll see an example of how I blocked light from reflecting from the ceiling, but allowed it to emit from the bottom half.
I really appreciate the thought that went into this modifier. EASY five stars. I'd give it ten stars if that were an option.

Often, light modifiers are a pain to setup. Not so with this softbox/lantern from Neewer. It couldn't be easier to setup. You just push down until you can hook a little bar into a slot and it's setup in just a couple of seconds. I have other soft boxes that can take several minutes to deploy.
This is the first "lantern" type of modifier I've used. I can see where it will be very useful when directional light isn't desired. This will basically offer soft lighting in a 360 degree omni-direction, much like a lantern. A "skirt" is also included, which allows for some modification of the light, skirting off portions where you don't want light spill. The skirt can be configured many ways, depending on your needs, although it's a little confusing on how best to use it.
The softbox/lantern is attached to your lighting via the Bowens mount standard, so it fits all of my lights, both the continuous LED and strobe setups I have. It comes with a nice protective case, which I appreciate.
Overall, a really nice lantern-type light modifier that couldn't be easier to setup. Very nice!

Remove from bag, hold against the floor and push downwards. Looking down inside the box you locate a metal loop under a hook, and that’s it. The box keeps its forma you simply attach it to your compatible light by pushing and twisting into the light’s mount. It really is the work of a few seconds.
The structure is sturdy and very lightweight, so it’s not unsettling the balance of your light on its stand. Combined with a suitable light if provides a great spread of consistent illumination.
I’ve paired the softbox with a Neewer CB60 70w LED video light and a Neewer carbon fibre tripod, and I’m able to quickly set up a solid, good quality light rig in moment. Really happy.
