Not perfect, but rugged and a money-saver
Before getting this, I wondered whether I could use another of my various clamps on a light stand to hold a second light. Not if it's at all heavy, I can't. This guy, though, is super solid. I'm personally confident putting over the recommended 33 pounds on it if it's on the main pole of a secured light stand.*And/or*, on the leg of a c-stand.So this super clamp can really save you money if you get it instead of another light stand. I often want to put a background light and a rim light in about the same place, so this will let me do that. Then I don't have to worry about puzzle-fitting the stand legs together, too.I appreciate that the spigot/pin is long so it sticks out from the clamp. This gives more room to fit and adjust a light in the space. It might allow you to fit the pin through a horizontal posting hole for your light, rather than just the vertical one. It's also nice to have the flat-surface-mounting insert, though you might lose it when you take it out.There's no 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 thread on the top of the pin. This doesn't matter for your typical heavy duty light mounting (the main purpose here), but you might care if you wanted to use it to mount other peripherals. There is a 1/4"-20 thread hole on the clamp, though, so that's a ready remedy with additional hardware/adapters.Apparently the two M5 screws are for attaching two of these super clamps together. If you pop off the plastic flat-surface adapter from inside the jaws, it seems they can drop into the unthreaded holes, then you place the clamps back-to-back turned 90° from each other, and the pass-through holes line up with the M5 threaded holes. That's a nice design thought, though I don't have two to try it.My main complaint—which isn't all that big—is that the quick release button is not really a quick release. If the pin is loose in its hole, sure, the quick release will let it out without you having to turn the knob all the way. *But*, if you have actually secured the pin so it doesn't rattle around, you can't release it directly from the secured position with the button. You need to unscrew it a significant way first. So it's a *quicker* release, but not really a *quick* release in my mind.Anyway, I'm quite happy I got this super clamp; it's big and tough, and fairly well-designed. Most importantly, it's useful (and might even save you some big bucks on a second c-stand!).

Heavy duty super clamp with the highest quality workmanship matching top professional brands. It can easily clamp onto flat surfaces or durable piping and poles. The rubber grips will protect against scrapping and I had no problem tightening it onto my granite table. It's secure enough to hold a reasonably heavy light or rigged camera and certainly can be used for other heavy-duty grip functions.
The 5/8 inch stud is very nice and fits into the hexagonal mount although I can see the need for other stud options such as one with a small spigot. It has a quick-release button to remove the stud (and whatever is mounted to it) which is a nice feature. There are two M5 threads (and screws) so one can attach another clamp or arm to it which is also a nice feature.
