I've been pleasantly surprised with this mic! I wanted a mic that would pick up more directional noise, so the super cardioid polar pattern in this mic has been great.
The first thing you notice is the build quality of the mic. It's made of aluminum and feels sturdy in your hand and in the included shock mount.
In terms of sound quality, if you are inside, the improved sound quality is apparent over the built-in mic. If you are outside (and using the deadcat cover), it is very apparent. Another thing I really like is that the mic is powered by your phone, and it does not require a dedicated battery, which makes the sounds quality even more impressive.
My biggest gripe with this mic is that it does not come with a lightning adapter. Not a huge deal, but this would be the complete package if it did.
Overall, if you are looking for a high-quality mic that won't break the bank, this is it.

Product: NEEWER Video MicrophoneThe microphone is simple to use and works well. I used it with my iPhone + adapter, and I could tell the audio quality difference between the built-in iPhone 7 mic vs this mic (I can’t speak for newer generation iPhones). The sound recording using this mic is fuller and much more faithful to the actual sound in real life, as shown in the video. The video started with the audio recorded with just the built-in mic. I plugged in the Neewer mic + furry windshield, as indicated by the pop sound in the middle (sorry for the noise it makes), and you can hear an improvement in the audio quality where it sounds a lot more 3 dimensional. The furry windshield does not remove background noises indoors, but I’ve not filmed when it was windy outside yet to fully test its capability. The mic fits right on the top of my phone tripod holder or directly on a tripod with a screw mount. I appreciate that they’ve labeled where each jack goes (iPhone vs microphone) so I wouldn’t get the cable direction wrong. Everything fits inside a small pouch that came along with the product and is super compact for travel. My only complaint is that in some videos I’ve recorded, there’s a loud artificial static noise, which I believe is the result of a faulty connection, which is quite unfortunate as I didn’t notice this issue during those recordings. My current fix is to rotate the cable around until the static noise disappears before proceeding, but I wish I had another permanent fix for this; -1 star. Otherwise, the microphone is plug-and-play with good sound quality.
