Welcome to the Dolphin Swimming and Boating Club!

The Dolphin Club is a volunteer-led community of 1800+  members, centered at Aquatic Park, with a boathouse at Lake Merced. The club was founded in 1877 with twenty-five charter members whose commitment to spending more time in and on the bay continues to inspire today’s Dolphins.

The Dolphin Club is currently open seven days a week, 5 a.m.-10 p.m. to members. Public access day-use hours are Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Visitors need to sign the Dolphin Club waiver and pay a fee at the front door. The day-use fee can be paid either in cash ($10.00), by check ($12.00), or by credit card ($12.67.) Visitors should ring the front-door doorbell to gain entry. Join Us

Our 1,800 members swim in the waters of Aquatic Park and around the world; row in the San Francisco Bay, on Lake Merced, and elsewhere; play in handball tournaments; work out in our bay-view weight room; and participate in the annual Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.

Swimming
Welcome to open water swimming.
Rowing
On traditional wooden boats, or lightweight carbon fiber shells, rowing on San Francisco Bay is an immensely rewarding activity.
Handball
Fun. Exercise. Camaraderie. That’s handball.
Running
Dolphins can run, too. We welcome all runners, new and old.
Paddling
Join Kayak Club, pilot friends swimming, or standup paddle on a nice day. The club has a fleet of kayaks and SUPs.
Weight Room
The weight room, once our dining room, is a room with a view.
Sauna

Many feel the saunas are the heart and soul of our club.

Member-led Activities
From social mixers to saving the planet, Dolphins make it happen.

Everyone Is Welcome at the Dolphin Club

The club is made of its place and its people. In addition to sharing sporting activities, many members say that their club experience and friendships have been built and enriched through volunteering and participating in the life of the club. There are many ways to be involved, including events, governance, community support, and fleet and facility maintenance.
