Daniel Lonnerdal, M.S., FACHE

Daniel Lonnerdal, M.S., FACHE, is the Director of SAMHSA’s Office of Management, Technology, and Operations. In this role, Mr. Lonnerdal works in partnership with SAMHSA and the Department of Health and Human Services to manage, provide leadership, and ensure SAMHSA's needs are met.

Mr. Lonnerdal brings many years of experience to his position in SAMHSA. He served in several leadership roles at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), most recently serving as the Executive Officer of the NIH Clinical Center, the nation's largest hospital devoted entirely to clinical research. As the Clinical Center’s Executive Officer, he oversaw a number of Administrative, Operational, and Clinical Departments. Prior to this, he served as the Clinical Center’s Chief Administrative Officer and Chief of the Office of Workforce Management and Development.

Prior to his role in the NIH Clinical Center, Mr. Lonnerdal served as a Chief Information Officer in the NIH Office of Research Services and Office of Research Facilities. He also worked at other federal agencies, including the United States Department of Energy and the United States Department of Transportation. He has a background in Cyber Security and Information Technology management, often serving as a Senior Technical Advisor.

Mr. Lonnerdal graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, and from the George Washington University with a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology. He is also board certified in healthcare management as an American College of Healthcare Executive Fellow (FACHE).
