Institutional Actions Council Public Members
HLC is seeking members of the public—individuals who are not affiliated with a member college or university or a higher education agency—to serve on the Institutional Actions Council (IAC). The IAC reviews and takes action on recommendations from peer reviewers who evaluate institutions for compliance with accreditation requirements. This is a unique and rewarding volunteer opportunity to support quality assurance in higher education.
Peer Corps
HLC relies upon the work of peer reviewers for its accrediting activities. These volunteers generously share their knowledge and experience to assure and advance institutional quality. See Become a Peer Reviewer for more information on eligibility and applying to join HLC's Peer Corps.
Academy Mentors
Academy Mentors offer guidance, advice and feedback to institutions in the Assessment Academy and Persistence and Completion Academy. Mentors work with one or more institutions throughout the four-year Academy experience to assist the institutions in developing and implementing their projects related to assessment or persistence and completion.
Periodically, HLC seeks new Mentors. The ideal mentor has experience in the assessment of student learning or student persistence and completion and has been working in the field for at least five years.
