Generative AI, Third-Party Risks, and Other 2024 Cybersecurity Predictions Gartner announced their cybersecurity predictions for 2024 and beyond. Artificial intelligence was obviously in the spotlight, and it appears that it will bring many challenges in the short term but will help to solve some chronic issues in the long run. This year and next, generative AI will cause a spike in the cybersecurity resources required to secure it, leading to more than a 15% incremental spend on application and data security. This includes updates to application and data security practices and coverage of entirely new attack surfaces like prompt injection. However, in the next few years, it's expected that GenAI will reduce the skill shortage in cybersecurity by eliminating the need for specialized education for 50% of entry-level cybersecurity positions. In addition, Gartner expects a 40% decrease in cybersecurity incidents stemming from human errors, thanks to more efficient cybersecurity awareness education powered by AI personalization. Returning from AI castles in the sky back to Earth, analysts point out that Outcome-Driven Metrics are increasingly adopted to help CISOs create a defensible cybersecurity investment strategy and enable board members to connect investments they approve with results they both understand and value. Another important realization comes to everyone dealing with third-party security – those supplier incidents will keep happening and spending excessive resources on due diligence doesn’t pay off. Security leaders are advised to focus on resilience-oriented investments, establish mutually beneficial relationships with key third parties to ensure their valuable assets are continuously safeguarded. A cherry on top – start building third-party-specific incident playbooks that include a clear offboarding strategy among other things. #predictions #AI #cybersecurity

CISO Priorities v.2024 The annual update of the useful CISO Mindmap is here: https://lnkd.in/dDGqkirV Information security leaders are recommended to focus on the following improvements in their organizations: 1️⃣ Develop a skeptical and cautious plan for the rollout of generative AI solutions in the company, considering the immaturity of the technology and ecosystem. 2️⃣ Consolidate cybersecurity tools. More is not always better. 3️⃣ Develop and present to top management a strategy for enhancing the organization's cyber resilience. Ensure that incident response is not isolated from business continuity functions. 4️⃣ Cultivate the internal brand of the cybersecurity team. Teach the team negotiation skills, persuasion, collaboration, and understanding the business context of decisions. 5️⃣ Evaluate the effectiveness of various security measures and their impact on employees' daily work and business processes. Plan to phase out measures that significantly impede work but provide minimal risk reduction. #tips #cybersecurity
