Founded in 1980, WillowWood is an independent school for diverse learners and high achievers in SK to grade 12. WillowWood has a long tradition of delivering targeted, personal education that considers each student's needs, inclinations, and strengths. This individualized approach ensures that students are able to discover and embrace their strengths, address their weaknesses, and maintain their dignity. Classes are small, the atmosphere is warm, and the pedagogical approach is holistic.

Teachers at WillowWood have monthly educational strategy meetings where they exchange ideas and teaching methods for each student attending WillowWood. In this way, teachers can deliver course material in a customized manner that best works for each student.

In our High School division, the program focuses on acceptance into post-secondary education in Canada and around the world. Students from WillowWood attend some of the most prestigious programs in Canada including the Universities of Toronto (U of T), Waterloo, McGill, McMaster, and Western.

WillowWood’s lower school Foundation Program includes Kindergarten, grade 1 and 2 students, and is an intensively individualized early learning program. The program is Language and Math intensive, with Science and Social Studies integrated into Language. Students are tested frequently, through observation and informal evaluations in order to fine-tune the individualization/personalization of teaching methods and to capitalize on student strengths. The Foundation Program’s small grouping and deep individualization allows tremendous flexibility in terms of pace and instruction, ensuring a strong foundation for the next years.

WillowWood international students are encouraged to compete in various Canadian Mathematics competitions such as the Fermat, Euclid, Pascal, and Cayley contests. Our students routinely place in the top 10 percent of the country and we could not be more proud of them.

WillowWood embraces the use of technology in learning; all classrooms are equipped with high-end digital smartboards; all students receive top of the line laptops; myWillow is a Blackbaud platform that allows students and parents to look up grades, assignment due dates, and other types of communications.

Although WillowWood is "small-class" private school it still offers all of the amenities of bigger schools and more; an art studio, a music room, a full-size gymnasium, a fitness room, a science lab, and a digital media arts studio.

WillowWood sports teams participate in the SSAF (Small Schools Athletic Federation) as the WillowWood Warriors and field teams in volleyball, soccer, basketball, dodgeball, golf, curling, tennis, ice hockey, floor hockey, badminton, flag football and ultimate frisbee. Students also have the opportunity to participate in over 20 different clubs with new ones being added every year.

WillowWood School was ranked as the top private school in Toronto by The Best of Toronto in 2022.
