He called back on Monday morning, we made an appointment in the afternoon, he came at the appointed time, he said he thought he knew the source of the water and had to dissasemble the freezer compartment. He had to unload the freezer and had to take the shelves out in order to get to the defrosting unit behind the freezer compartment. He confirmed the problem by pouring water into the defrosting tray and watched in drain into the freezer unit. He repositioned the tray, punched holes in the tray and reassembled the unit. I called General Refrigeration and Gary was at my house in about an hour. He quickly assessed the problem and decided to replace the motherboard which he thought would fix the problem. Made an appointment with Metro on Wednesday for Friday afternoon. Igor arrived on time and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Our frig has the freezer at the bottom. Frost developed in the freezer and we thought something went wrong with the defrost. The tech came out and took a look. He said that he didn't think it was the defrost. He noticed that the freezer door was slightly off track which was letting air in which caused the frost to develop. He took the freezer door off, cleaned up all the frost and put the door on again making sure that it was on the track. We must have accidentally knocked it off track. He then showed us how to best set the thermostat. The tech (I think he went by Al) was very professional and friendly. He was also careful to limit any mess and clean up after he was done. He could have sold us on an unnecessary fix but didn't. He only charged us for the call and a small amount for labor. It's been a couple of weeks and the freezer is clear of frost.
