"Gerald Portlock Drywall is great. His team did a beautiful job in repairing and replacing the drywall damaged from water from the above unit. I had about 30 recessed lighting installed in my unit. They did a great job in making the cut-outs for the round light fixtures. In addition, they had painted my entire place with 2 coats of Kelly-Moore Swiss Coffee paint. It was painted with care. They are trully professionals. Gerald Portlock is very friendly and reliable. He would continuously communicate with me. I highly recommend him for drywall and painting. His pricing is also great. He can give you the biggest bang for the buck."

Get Matched With ProsIf you've got the drywall hung, but the seams are still visible, the next step is finishing. Drywall finishing is the process of smoothing the joints between drywall panels to get them ready for painting, texturing, tile, or wallpaper. While hanging drywall takes muscle, this next step takes finesse, so if you're not an avid and experienced DIYer, it's a job that may require a professional.
A local drywall finishing company can make the seams between panels disappear so that walls and ceilings are perfectly smooth. They are skilled at taping and mudding to create an imperceptible edge without fraying or tearing the tape or damaging the drywall. They'll start by preparing the surface, making sure all nails or screw heads are driven down below the surface of the wallboard. Then they will apply the first mud coat, a fill coat, and a finish coat that is only a light final application of mud to create a smooth surface.
While, again, this can be a DIY job, if you want flawless walls and ceilings, consider hiring a drywall finishing service near you. Professionals will have the expertise needed to achieve the right surface for different everything from flat or semi-gloss paint to heavy texturing and lightweight wallpaper. Type in your zip code and HomeAdvisor will connect you with drywall finishers in your area.
