The identification and location of jurisdictional Waters of the United States (which includes wetlands) regulated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act is determined through a process known as an Approved Jurisdictional Determination (AJD).  The AJD process establishes if a water is regulated by the COE or is not regulated by the COE.
