Chicago District Water Management

The Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering section is responsible for the daily operation of four multi-purpose reservoir projects within Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana and the collection and dissemination of data associated with those projects in regards to reservoir control and water quality.

The team provides guidance on management of competing purposes at District Reservoirs which include:

  • Water Supply
  • Low-Flow Augmentation
  • Fish and Wildlife
  • Recreation
  • Flood Control

Our hydraulic engineers utilize the Corps Water Management System (CWMS) to analyze real-time lake and river conditions in order to provide time sensitive forecasts to the National Weather Service.
