Air Quality Department Decisions

The Bureau of Air Quality (BAQ) issues Department Decisions when permitting decisions have generated public interest because of potential health and/or environmental impacts. The information found on this page can also be viewed at S.C. DHEC's Central office at 2600 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201 through the Freedom of Information's Office.


Department Decisions include the following documents:

  • Department Decision: Summary of decision;
  • Final Determination: Determination of a project's Prevention of Significant Air Quality Deterioration (PSD) requirements and limits; when applicable;
  • Permit: Conditions for constructing and operating the facility;
  • Statement of Basis: Summary of the project and its emissions, and explanation of regulatory applicability; and 
  • Response to Comments: Department's written response to comments received during the public comment period.

Additional documents or resources may also be included to provide specific information about the facility and/or its permitting decision process.

Jasper Pellets, LLC processes wood shavings and sawdust into wood pellets. The facility is expanding its operation by adding additional equipment and increasing its potential throughput. Adams Scrap Recycling LLC Greenville 02/15/2019
Adams Scrap Recycling LLC is a major recycler of metal products as well as glass, paper, plastic, and electronics. The facility will construct and operate a natural gas fired Secondary Aluminum processing rotary melting furnace with baghouse with lime injection.
