Interagency & International Services (IIS) Programs

The Corps of Engineers provides reimbursable technical services to other Federal Agencies as well as States, local units of government, international governments, and Native American Tribes. The objective of this program is to identify and match Corps engineering and related services with the evolving needs of American and International society. The design, engineering and construction management capabilities of the Corps can complement the expertise of other agencies in accomplishing their programs. In the age of government downsizing, many agencies need the capability to effectively accomplish engineering or construction in support of their mission. The Corps can fill that void.

Military and Installation Support

  • The Pittsburgh District has a multi-disciplined staff that provides the Department of Defense customers with “One-Stop” service and support. The District performs small projects totaling a few hundred dollars to multi-billion dollar projects. The District’s team understands the client’s needs and goals which allow  us to provide the highest level of service.

Examples of Our Work

  • The Corps of Engineers signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 26 February 2010 with the National Park Service  (NPS) to provide construction management, environmental restoration and design assistance for the construction of the Flight 93 Memorial project.  This was a very successful project that resulted in the dedication of the memorial on September 10, 2011.  The Corps provided two full time on site engineers and reach back services such as water sampling and lab testing.   All Corps related work with the NPS was completed in early 2013.

Interagency Services

The Pittsburgh District provides reimbursable technical services to other federal agencies.  The District’s Interagency program identifies and matches the Corps’ engineering and related services with the evolving needs of other federal agencies.

As agencies are increasingly going through downsizing, many are losing their engineering and technical support capabilities and are increasingly relying on the Corps to provide these services on a reimbursable basis.
