Lakes in the Kansas City District

Heartland Corps of Engineers Lakes

Hayden Farwell heard about USACE while working at Stockton State Park and had the opportunity to job shadow USACE park ranger Buck Walker. That’s when he realized he wanted a career with USACE. His USACE career started while in school on a six-month seasonal position for four summers before getting a pathways (internship/trainee) position for the past year. He recently graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in natural resource/forestry. He attended school 2-3 times a week and maintained a full-time work status of 40 hours. He said this is the best job on planet earth and has learned there are so many open doors within the USACE to find what you want to do and do it to 100%.
As you visit our great outdoors this Spring, we want to remind you pet's are welcome, but should always be on a leash! Don't forget to take bags and pick up after them - you wouldn't want to step in that, so please treat others the same.
Watch and learn how to properly fit a life jacket! It's important to always wear it on and near the water.
Ada and Mike Bryan are long time Park Attendant Volunteers at Bridge View campground at Rathbun Lake. Some of their duties include verifying the correct campers are set up on the correct sites and monitor the overall campground condition. They work closely with the Park Ranger staff and communicate any needs in the campground. We appreciate all Ada and Mike do!
Warren has volunteered at Wilson Lake since 2019. He is involved in everything we do from park hosting, wildlife food plots, prairie management, buoys, pothole repair. We appreciate his work ethic and great attitude. We simply could not function without our volunteers and we owe them much gratitude for their public service.

Follow CDC guidelines, even when outdoors. We are not staffed to maintain/clean lake & park areas. Be cautious about touching anything. Sanitize and wash often. Practice social distancing.
Expect the unexpected! Always practice safe hunting. Before you set foot in the field make sure you have all the proper safety equipment and double check to ensure it is in safe working order. When hunting from a tree stand you should always wear a harness and #stayconnected.
Safety is for All Seasons. Check your local weather and lake conditions before you go. Always wear the proper safety equipment and make sure it works!
Spring is here! It is time again to remember water safety.
