We conduct our hiring two ways: Direct-Hire Authorities and through the federal government's official hiring site, USAJOBS

1) Direct-Hire Authorities allow us to hire qualified applicants directly into vacancies. These listings often include multiple vacancy opportunities and interested candidates are encouraged to submit resumes and any other supporting documentation to: [email protected].

  • Vacancies are open to former/current federal employees and the public
  • Incentive or relocation bonuses may be available.
  • Vacancies are available at various GS levels and will be determined based upon applicant’s experience.

2) USAJOBS website allows jobseekers the opportunity to peruse job announcements through a filtered search. It offers an integrated resume builder and document-loading options.

Do you have paid internships?

We do offer paid internships! Refer to our Pathways page to see what openings we may have.

I'm not an engineer. Are there other types of jobs?

Absolutely. More than half of our jobs are for non-engineers/scientists.

Is there an age limit for USACE jobs?

Generally, no. If a particular position does have a maximum age requirement, the job announcement will provide specific information on this.

Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to apply?

Yes. Under Executive Order 11935, only United States citizens and nationals may be appointed to competitive service Federal jobs.

If I am found to be qualified, will I get an interview?

The decision to interview may depend on a variety of factors, including your ranking against other candidates, the number of positions being filled, and the number of people who applied.

How can I find out for which positions I am qualified?

Vacancy announcements will include the qualification requirements, such as education and/or experience, license requirements, etc. You should review the vacancy announcement to determine whether you meet the requirements for the position.

All of my work experience was obtained while serving in the military. Based on my military rank/grade, how can I find out the civilian salary, pay, and grade level I qualify for?

Your military pay, grade, and rank alone cannot determine your eligibility for a specific civilian salary, grade level, or pay range. On your job application, it is important that you completely and accurately describe the duties you performed during your military service, particularly those military duties that relate directly to the position you are applying for. The agency will then evaluate your qualifications to determine whether you are eligible for the occupation and grade levels advertised on the vacancy announcement. Please be sure to submit all requested documents in a timely manner and follow the application procedures described in the vacancy announcement.

How soon before college graduation can I apply for a Recent Graduate position?

Our job announcement may include a statement regarding accepting applications from students who expect to complete qualifying education within 9 months from the date of applying. However, the education must be completed successfully before your start date.
