Areas Of Expertise: Kitchen appliances, Light plumbing, Electrical , and 1 more

"My ex-girlfriend and I own a home in San Rafael. When we decided to break up, we decided to keep the house instead of selling it and we rented it out. However, there were some things that needed to be fixed before new tenants moved in. The faucet in the kitchen and the shower head needed to be replaced because there wasn't much pressure and Rudy told us that it's because of the chlorine in the water that clogged it. Also the water wasn't draining well in the bathtub after shower and we knew that the most likely cause was the accumulation of hair overtime. What we didn't know was that you actually clean it from the bottom part of the faucet where the water comes not where the waste water drains, needed to be removed and cleaned, and oh boy there was so much hair. Rudy made it look so easy. He's a super nice person, able to fix almost anything, and his prices are very reasonable."

A damaged ceiling is often the first sign something might be wrong in your house. Soft sheetrock or visible water spots warn you about a potential plumbing problem. Cracks around the door frames and windows are a sign of potential foundation damage. Thin, straight cracks or separation in the corners of the room are also a sign of age. But once you diagnose the problem, don't let cracks and stains linger. Find a local ceiling repair company that can repair the damage.

Local ceiling contractors can be onsite quickly and remove damaged drywall before the problem spreads. Whether you have moisture damage or holes in your drywall from repairs, experts can seamlessly replace the material with no gaps or bumps. Ceiling repair contractors can even remove old popcorn finishes. If you have less serious damage, like holes form drywall anchors and light fixtures, they can patch the surface. Hiring a local service also means you save money on material and transportation costs.

If you are concerned about the cracks, holes, and softened patches in your ceiling, call in an expert. Type in your zip code and HomeAdvisor will find ceiling repair services in your area.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to fix a ceiling?

It costs an average of about $700 to repair a ceiling. Professionals charge between $60 and $90 per hour to make repairs. Certain parts of your home might cost more because of code requirements. The total price includes labor, materials, site preparation and cleanup.

Cost varies significantly based on how much of the ceiling needs repair and the type of materials needed to fix the problem. Different types of material include drywall or sheetrock, plaster and lath, popcorn or drop tiles.

What are signs and symptoms of a serious problem with my ceiling?

Call a professional if you notice these changes:

  • Cracks that develop quickly.
  • The sound of cracking.
  • Sagging and/or discoloration.
  • Paint chipping.

How do I hire a ceiling repair contractor?

  • Research ceiling repair contractors online
  • Establish your budget, but be cautious of low bids
  • Make sure to discuss the work your contractor will do before he or she begins repairs to avoid surprise costs

Some contractors will provide a single price for the overall project. Don't be afraid to ask for an itemized bid that lists the cost of labor, materials, site preparation and cleanup. Plan to hire a separate expert who can the fix underlying issues that caused the damage, like leaking pipes.

What questions should I ask a ceiling repair contractor?

After agreeing on price, ask your contractor the following questions:

  • How long will the repair take?
  • How many professionals will be in my home?
  • How is the floor protected?
  • Are vents covered?
  • What are regular work hours?
  • Is it safe for children or pets to stay in the home during the repair work?

Your contractor should help you understand the repair process from start to finish.
