"Brian, the owner, contacted me within an hour of my going online with Home Advisor and set up a time to come and review my atticâ s additional insulation needs. He showed up ON time and walked me thru what he needed to do, answering my questions. Today he was ON time and went right to work. When he was finished, he walked me thru again, explaining some extra things heâ d done to help reduce wind from blowing in along lower roof line so insulation wouldnâ t be shifted from any â up draftsâ (my term). I am VERY impressed with Brianâ s promptness, work ethic, and extreme professionalism...something I donâ t always find in home service people. I HIGHLY recommend Brian and Beacon Insulation!"

"-Raccoon in the Attic- Red Line responded quickly to my request for service on Home Advisor. In addition, Nathan called and gave me an appointment only a few hours after I submitted the request. Once the critter was captured (in a live trap on the 2nd night, see picture by Red Line for example), Nathan collected the raccoon and traps. He also patched the hole that the critter had made to break into my home! He advised that he would relocate the animal to a woodland area about 10 miles away. The worldly animal will have a new home! I highly recommend Red Line Animal Removal...!"

Areas Of Expertise: Energy Audits, Air Sealing, Duct Work Sealing , and 2 more
"This company is top notch! Here's what we had done: *Attic bonus room insulated on all four sides and top of ceiling. *All duct work sealed to prevent leakage. *Insulation blown where needed to achieve the correct thickness. *A section of duct work was replaced and moved to give more attic storage space. *Recessed light insulation covers were placed over all of our recessed lights. David, the Lead Energy Evaluator, was thorough in his accessement of our needs. He not only explained the issues but showed us the issues using advanced technology. He communicated with us as needed. All work was completed timely. Jason, the crew leader, was professional, courteous and respectful of our home and space. Jason went above and beyond our expectations. He and his crew not only did excellent work, Jason "uncovered" a probelm unrelated to the scope of our project but he said he would do some research to find out the best solution. Now that is excellent customer service. He even said he would come back out once this problem was fixed to make sure the insulation was proper in this small space. Both Jason and David are very knowledge and answered all of our questions in terms that we understood. I recommend this company."

Frequently Asked Questions
What is insulation?

What is insulation?
Insulation is material that provides a barrier within a home’s walls, ceilings, and floors to regulate temperature and noise. If your home gets overly hot in the summer and cold in the winter, it’s likely not insulated properly.
Insulation efficiency is measured by R-value, which determines how resistant different types of insulation are to heat flow (or energy loss). R-values are measured by inch of thickness. The higher the R-value, the better the performance and the higher the price.
How much does insulation cost?
+
How much does insulation cost?
Our project data lists insulation costs between $1,400 and $6,300, but your final price will depend on the type of insulation you choose, its R-value, and how much you need.
- Fiberglass insulation: $0.30 – $1.50
- Blown-in insulation: $1 – $2
- Spray foam insulation: $0.50 – $2
- Radiant insulation: $0.20 – $1
- Rigid board insulation: $0.25 – $1
Luckily, insulation is one of the best investments you can make in your home—it has an ROI of at least 100%, meaning you’ll likely make back what you spend in a few years or so.

What is insulation made of?
Insulation is made of many different materials, which can also impact the R-value needed for energy efficiency.
- Fiberglass: The most common insulation material made from glass. Fiberglass is a skin and lung irritant, so you’ll need to wear gloves and clothing when working with fiberglass insulation.
- Cellulose: Made from recycled paper products, plus borate for fire and insect resistance.
- Foam: Made from polystyrene, polyisocyanurate, or polyurethane plastic. You can also install cement-based foam insulation using rigid foam boards.
- Mineral wool: Made of fire-resistant rock wool, a mix of natural materials, or slag wool, made from a molten metal product.
- Natural fibers: Made from various recycled natural materials, including cotton, sheep’s wool, and straw.
Where is insulation in a house?

Where is insulation in a house?
If your attic is unfinished or you’ve ever demolished an interior wall, you might notice batt or spray foam insulation between the studs. Putting insulation between your walls and floors helps keep your home comfortable and your energy costs down. In addition to walls and attics, you can install insulation in your garage, in floors above vented crawl spaces, and basements.
- Garage Insulation: $0.50 to $1.25 per square foot
- Floor and crawl space insulation: $1 to $5 per square foot
- Basement insulation: $1.50 to $2.50 per square foot
- Wall insulation: $1 to $4 per square foot
- Attic insulation: $1,500 to $6,000
- Roof insulation: $1,500 to $4,500 or more
What are the different types of insulation?
+
What are the different types of insulation?
There are a few types of home insulation, and they all are made of different materials— most commonly, fiberglass, cellulose, and foam. Insulation includes these materials in the following forms:
- Loose-fill: Also called “blown-in,” loose-fill is sprayed into wall cavities, attics, and other oddly-shaped areas using special equipment. This insulation is usually made of fiberglass, cellulose, or mineral wool.
- Batts: An affordable insulation blanket best for unfinished spaces, such as between framing, studs, or joists. They come in pre-cut sections suitable for DIY installation and are mostly made from fiberglass, though other versions are also available.
- Rolls: Similar to batt insulation, but comes in rolls. Its make-up leaves less chance for gaps between sections and is more efficient than other types.
- Foam board: One of the most popular insulation types that can be used almost anywhere in your home. Foam boards also have a high R-value.
- Spray foam: Expands and hardens to fill gaps, small and large. Can be closed-cell or open-cell, but closed-cell has a higher R-value, making it more expensive per square foot.
- Radiant barriers: Does not reduce heat flow but directs heat away from the home instead. Radiant barriers are DIY-friendly and affordable, but they won’t be as effective in the winter months.
