"If you need reliable contractor, my strong recommendation is Palm Construction. I hired them to build a deck and they did phenomenal job. Ray and his brilliant team made this project simple and non painful. I worked with many contractors and this was my best experience. They also charged at the end very reasonable final price, although quality of materials is superb. I can't recommend enough!"

"I chose R&J after reviewing 8 companies and I am so glad I chose them! Their pricing was good and they delivered exactly everything they promised - there were no surprise charges. Ryan, the owner, was knowledgable and our new all cedar fence is BEAUTIFUL - beyond my expectations. He overcame challenges in my yard (such as my neighbors invasive bamboo hedge) and didn't ask me to do a ton of prep work like the other companies. He was on time, and kept the worksite extremely neat. At the end of the project they left the property perfectly clear of debris. He didn't have a bunch of disclaimers in his quote and he provided us with a warranty that was longer than all the other companies. He was a highly effective communicator and responded quickly to my questions during the bidding process. I really loved working with this company. His crew was hard working and respectful of my property and my privacy. I've told R&J to feel free to use me as a reference."

Frequently asked questions

  • Budget: Your budget is central in influencing which fence you buy. Figure out your spending limit and determine your budget per linear foot, as fencing costs can quickly add up.
  • Durability: Consider strength, lifespan, resistance to pests, rot and fungus, rust, and the material’s ability to withstand local weather conditions.
  • Maintenance: Maintenance, cleaning and repairs should be simple and minimal.
  • Purpose: The style of fence you choose should be suitable for its intended purpose.
  • Installation: Find out what installation requirements, such as foundations or supports, are necessary. Research if DIY is possible or if professional installation is your only option.

  • Wood fence styles range from traditional to contemporary and from purely functional to attractive and decorative.
  • Lattice fences are affordable and decorative. You can use them as privacy fences by growing dense foliage over them.
  • Vertical board fences are the most common type of residential fence. There are budget-friendly options available as well as higher-end panels. Vertical board fences are affordable choices for basic privacy and security fences.
  • Picket fences conjure up cozy images of traditional properties with carefully tended lawns. They’re good for demarcating a property boundary but don’t provide much security.
  • Post-and-rail fences are a solid choice for making a boundary over a large area, as material use is minimal. However, they don’t provide any security or privacy.
  • Metal fences are generally stronger and more secure than other materials. You can choose from highly ornate and secure metalwork or simple but functional wire. For the higher-end options, which are often costly, homeowners often reduce costs per square foot by combining the metal with brick.
  • Aluminum fencing is an attractive, more affordable alternative to wrought iron. Although it has a similar appearance, it’s not as strong as wrought iron.
  • Steel fencing is a strong, long-lasting fencing option that’s good for creating a secure barrier around your home.
  • Vinyl fencing made from PVC comes in a range of styles, including those that mimic real wood.
  • Composite fencing is an amalgamation of wood fibers, pulp or sawdust and ground plastic particles that are bonded and held together by an acrylic resin. It looks and feels like real wood and is an environmentally friendly choice, as it usually contains a high percentage of recycled materials.
  • Wire fences are not made to enhance the aesthetics of your property, although some homeowners opt for black fencing to help boost aesthetics. They are inexpensive, purely functional products suitable for DIY or professional installation.
  • Barbed wire fencing isn’t common in residential settings. While it’s an inexpensive, fierce and intimidating security deterrent, it isn’t attractive and will not add value to your home.

Comment: I would like to get an estimate for fence replacement at the back end of my house: 10 chain link. I need to install a fence on the left side of my side. I prefer text messages and email as my mode of communication. I'm working with my neighbor Pete on the west side of my house. currently there is 7 sections of old Cedar fence left on the up side closest to our houses. On the lower side after the Cedar fence ends. We would like chain link to begin and go completely to the bottom where there is another old cedar fence. The old Cedar fence at the bottom enclosing the back end of our property is going to be replaced with a Chain Link Fence and gate. The Chain Link Fence will go east for about 33 feet or so. I believe you'll need 10 Posts approximately in the back end area. The fence can connect up to my neighbors chain Link on the east side at the bottom to enclose our yard to keep our animals ( dogs) inside the yard. Also we can connect to my neighbors fence on the west side as well. I paced off the footage needed and I believe we will need approximately 166 linear feet of chain link. However make sure you measure first cause I could be off a tad. We need the fence to be 6" in height. I believe on the straight coming down the hill all the way to the bottom to the back fence you'll need 16 posts, however ill leave that up to your good judgement on that. So, I think that should cover it on the West side and back fenced area for our property. On the East side of my property I need one four feet in length chain fencing that would be 6' in height connecting to a single swing gate with the same height, for easy access to front yard. The fencing would be connecting to a cedar fencing post. The gate would be closing connecting with house structure, like the four foot high gate is there now. That covers it for what we need. Thank you
