Reliable Air Mechanical
5.0
We wanted to add air conditioning to our existing heating system. Several contractors proposed solutions that would involve an overhaul of our entire existing system. Reliable Air Mechanical’s sales engineer Mr. Vic spent some significant time assessing the condition of our existing system and discussing our options, always considering the return on investment of each option. We ended up with a simple and straightforward project. He gave us a complete quote while he was at our house, and the following week his team completed the project in less than 7 hours. The two technicians who executed the installation were professional and courteous. The work was performed neatly and skillfully. And the sales engineer came to the job site twice to monitor the work. Immediately after the installers left, I suspected a possible minor issue for which I called them. In less than 15 minutes the technicians were back and explained everything to me. Both my wife and I were impressed by the professionalism and customer focus of Reliable Air Mechanical team. We recommend them without any reservation

GOSAL AIR CONDITIONING & HTG
5.0
Gosal did a great job with the entire project, right from arriving for inspection to providing the quote, and still sticking with the quote even though the actual project was started many months after the initial quote (due to COVID precautions). Excellent worksmanship to cut out the old unit (the previous owners put closet door after the unit was put in place) and replace with new one, despite confines of space. Its been 2 months and the cooling has been working great. Very happy went with Kesar and would highly recommend him

ABC Heating & Cooling does it again!...We spent the 1st summer in our newly renovated home miserable fron the great! So we decided before summer of 2020 rolls around we'd have seen air conditioning unit installed. Well it was a no brainer for us to reach out to ABC once again, since they had done such a great drop undertaking a heater in our rental property. Once again they came through and delivered great, professional service! They were on time, respectful of our home and patient while explaining how to use the unit. Big THANKS to Joaquin, Antonio and Ben for the great installation! Can't leave Jeff C. out for his salesmanship, expedited efficiency and competitive pricing to get the job done!! Look no further than ABC for all of your Heating and Cooling needs!

No call no show on installation day. I had to call twice looking for them, once after two hours late, then after 5 hours late. Finally rescheduling for following day. They did show on time next day after i threatened to cancel the sale altogether. Workers arrived on time and were professional. Was told it was a one day job when sold to me, but it turned into 2.5 days with the wasted no show day. Price was good enough. Not much detail to any of the paperwork on warranties by the company. Was just happy it is over. AC is working fine. Not sure I would recommend simply because of the no show day one which was upsetting, Otherwise things went fine and as expected overall

CALIFORNIA ENERGY SERVICE
3.0
We weren't happy with this job, because the air conditioner doesn't blow out cold air and they tried to say it was the blower, but the blower works. It's the condenser because it freezes up, however, they won't come out to fix it, and I can't figure out why they won't call me back. I know once I get it fixed it will be the last time I call them

Valley Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Solar
5.0
I used Angies List to search for multiple vendors to quote my project. Valley is well used with many positive and favorable reviews so they naturally made my list. It was pretty easy to get an appointment for someone to come out and quote the job. That said, I wasn't so impressed with the sales person and felt they were not all that personable but they did leave me the information I needed. In following up with the sales person, they were not easy to reach and did not reply to my inquiries in a timely manner. Based on my early feelings I was hoping another vendor would be a better fit. I did receive an additional quote from a competing vendor which was a little higher and did not include the opportunity to do the CA energy assessment which Valley offered. Turns out that Valley is one of very few contractors in the area who are affliated with this program. Since I was making such a large investment with a new heater, additional air conditioning and all new duct work I felt this would be of good value and could significantly help offset some of the cost. This was the primary reason I selected Valley for the job, it was certainly not based on my experience with their sales person. The work took one week to dismantle the old heater and duct work and install the new. There was a slight setback in adding the additional insulation as promised with the job since the machine broke just as they were starting. Valley did not have another machine nor did they rent one to finish the job. This resulted in a delay of 1 week to complete adding the insulation. Given the volume of work that Valley has I was surprised that they had only one machine to handle insulation. Since this made it very inconvenient for me with the scheduling I do recommend they make some improvement in this regard. I've also completed the energy assesment and made very good improvements on enery efficiency with the new HVAC install. I don't yet know what my rebate will be but it is estimated at 2.5 - 3K. Valley is scheduled to complete this entire HVAC job on June 18th with the installation of the air conditioning unit. Overall I am quite satisfied with the work that was done by their staff and feel the quality of the work is quite good. I will report back again after the installation of the air conditioning and of course the status of the permit review

Bell Brothers Plumbing Heating & Air

Their price, using outstanding components, was very competitive. Even more importance, they were everything that any customer would hope for from any provider: prompt, very knowledgeable, completed the work in the time promised, fully explained the new systems to me, and kept my home very neat and clean. Stuart and Derek were especially helpful, and friendly. I'm delighted that ABC was my choice, and am loving my new A/C in these very warm days

Calvey Heating & Air
5.0
A fine job in all respects. Joe Calvey came out, surveyed the house and existing furnace, and gave me a selection of options for adding air conditioning, ranging from "lift existing downdraft furnace and add condenser coil" (least expensive but not ideal due to the old age of the furnace) to a full-system replacement with different options. Our ducts were old (1960s) and not well insulated or sealed, and the furnace itself was pushing 30 years old and had already needed some repairs. I decided on a substantial upgrade: new dual-speed downdraft furnace with air conditioning, remove all the old under-floor and air-return ducts and replace with larger flex ducts, new thermostat and wiring, keep the existing in-floor grills and boots, replace the in-ceiling air return grill with a larger one to improve airflow. Full permits and leak/efficiency testing. Joe recommended standard-efficiency furnace and air conditioning, saying that the substantially higher cost of the ultra-high-efficiency units would not be a good investment considering the Bay area's mild climate and how well our house is insulated and sealed. The actual work took four days plus some follow-up. The Calvey employees and the electrical subcontractor were a pleasure to deal with - on time, efficient, friendly, polite, cleaned up the job site each day, and were scrupulous about using shoe covers when indoors to protect the floors. The whole system worked perfectly once installed - both heating and air conditioning. The new (larger and well-sealed) ducts have roughly doubled the air-flow in the back part of the house, so I expect heating this winter will be much more comfortable and efficient. The new system is much quieter than the old. The system failed the initial leak testing (which was done to the strict "complete new system" standard even though some parts of the old system were kept). Jefferson came back, found and sealed up a bunch of leaks in the old manifold and boots, and the system now passes the "new system" standard with room to spare. The Mountain View permit inspection went off without a hitch. There was an annoying whine when the air conditioning was running at full speed. We determined that this was due to air whistling in the slatted louvers in the large air-return filter/grill cover in the hall ceiling (Internet search showed that this problem is not rare). Jefferson custom-ordered a replacement "egg crate" filter cover, installed it, and the noise was completely eliminated. Joe Calvey told me that he wants his customers to be happy with what they get. In my case, he and his team delivered just that

They quoted me $12,000 for a heating and air conditioning unit. Their price was much much higher than the other companies I talked to. However, the estimate was nice. He used computers and did some measurements, but the price was just too high.

FRITZMOORE HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING
5.0
My dad had used this company after getting bids from 10 others. He was the cheapest. He did a quality install for him changing his heating system, adding an AC unit and changing the ducts. For me I just needed to add an AC unit. I got two others bids. His was the same as another, but I went with him because the way he was going to do the work would make the piping less obtrusive, and safer. He completed the work as promised. No glitches. I've referred him to others

Hussey Bros Inc

lCalled Hussey Bros on Fri evening and left a voice mail. Monday morning they left me a voice mail and we talked and scheduled an appointment for quote. Steve Verna came over as scheduled and was very professional and gave the quote. I already had most of the other work done (already had evaporator coil+panel upgraded etc.). So the work was to install the new unit and to run the pipes from the unit to the furnace. Steve look at all the existing stuffs and gave an approximate quote. Next day I got a formal quote over email from Steve. Meanwhile I also talked to couple more contractors. Steve's turned out to be the most reasonable, cost-wise and warranty-wise.. Had a little tough time to coordinate for a proper install time and final amount (some confusion where the other Steve said that it should actually be couple of hundreds more, but they did honor the original price. The folks who came to install were also very courteous and professional. They could have finished the install in one day, but took two days as they had some other unfinished work (I had been told they will take 2 days.). Overall I was very happy with my experience with them

Valley Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Solar
4.0
The overall service went quite well. The initial estimate and pricing was quite competitive with the other prices I got from other providers. Valley heating has a strong background and an extensive portfolio of clients that they have helped with in jobs of varying complexities. I liked their professionalism and honest estimate with no fluff. The team that came to do the job was very professional and courteous. However the way the company works sometimes introduces issues. For e.g. they have a separate sales team which is completely different than the team that does the job. Ofcourse this is how large companies work, but the sales person ended up promising me a couple of things that he did not write down on the paper and the guys on the job refused to do that. They did promise to 'talk about it' but I had to spend almost an hour trying to call up the sales guy who wouldn't pick up my call. At the end, I just did those additional things myself but would've liked for them to do what the sales person had promised. In summary, as long as you get everything you want to get done on paper with them, they are very good at what they do and would recommend them

AAA Furnace & Air Conditioning Co
3.0
Prior purchase and installation job was A+. This last job was C. Failed city inspection first time. Did not leave manual for the Air Conditioner. Did not modify furnace to be operational in the upright position. Not professional job on vents. Second tech (Mike) was very knowledgable and modified the furnace and got it working. Estimator recommended enlarging intake vent and installer enlarged furnace intake and placed the second vent inlet in second bedroom. Would not recommend the intake be enlarged to a bedroom because the noise is awful. Luckily, it's used as a storeroom. Had to callback several times to resolve problems

DUKES HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING

These guys were responsive to phone calls and other communication. They installed the air conditioning in a timely fashion. It only took a day to actually install (side note: when we redid part of the house a couple years ago we added writing for the A/C so they really only had to install the unit). They attached it to our existing central system. Makes the house so much more livable! We're pleased with the job they did and would recommend to friends
