If you need outside water lines repairs, we recommend using Abacus Plumbing Company. They are knowledgeable, experienced, cordial, punctual, and pricewise reasonable. We have obtained several estimates for the water line leak and got very different proposals on where the leak might be, what type of line we had, and cost of repair. The owner of Abacus after seeing our desperate situation being without water came out himself. He instructed us to do 15 minutes shallow digging to determine the type of the water line. Abacus recommended highly reputable Leak Detection Company and even called them to help to expedite immediate service. After determining where the leak was we hired Abacus to repair it. They came on time as scheduled and did an excellent, professional job on the repair.

My problem was a burst main water pipe between the meter and the house. Tech showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, showed me his planned repair, complete the work promptly, and left me a happy camper.

Had a shower leak that required a new cartridge installed. Appointment scheduling very accommodating, prompt and cooperative. Nick did a great job, very professional, thorough and efficient. Also, Water pressure was below spec and Nick adjusted it as well as showing me how to do it myself if it happened again. Would hire Abacus again without hesitation.

I worked with Roger and he was very knowledgeable and did great work. He let me in on the dirty secret that most plumbers are owned by the same company. He also let me know that most plumbers are paid based on selling you more parts. So their first inclination will be to have you replace your plumbing fixtures.

The technician showed up on time and proceeded to repair the toilet flange that was causing the problem. The service call lasted longer than I expected but the work was done correctly and I expect to have no further problem with the toilet.

We called Abacus because we wanted a second opinion on an expensive job, but in the future we'll be calling Abacus FIRST for any plumbing questions or problems. We'd already been told by another plumber that the problem was with our kitchen pump (an estimated $1200-2000 replacement cost) or our electrical system for the pump (an estimated $400-1500 cost). However, the very personable and professional Abacus tech easily found and corrected the TRUE problem ... a blockage; he then double-checked and cleaned out the kitchen pump system for good measure -- no repair or replacement was needed. Our total cost was only $186 !!!

Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.

Criminal Background Check

We use a third-party vendor to conduct criminal background checks on the owner/principal of each business*. This background check includes a search for relevant criminal convictions through a national criminal database and the sex offender database.

Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade.

Identity Verification (Social Security Number)

HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number of the business owner/principal to confirm their identity. (This applies primarily to small businesses.)

State Business Filings

If a business states that it's registered as a corporation or limited liability company, we confirm that the company is in good standing in the state they're operating in.

*Corporate Accounts

Some service pros are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, you may be matched with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate service professionals. The above screening process is not applicable to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate service professionals.
