The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, and western Washington Tribes kicked-off the first meeting of the Puget Sound Federal Leadership Task Force, mandated by Congress in 2022 to coordinate the federal government’s efforts to restore Puget Sound and address Tribal treaty rights.
A new barracks was officially opened March 31 at Yakima Training Center with a ribbon cutting by the Washington Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District. This 128-bed facility is dedicated for use by attendees of Total Army School System courses at the 205th Training Regiment’s Regional Training Institute.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers partnered with the Shoalwater Bay Tribe to restore the Shoalwater Bay Dune on the Tokeland Peninsula, Washington, in time before the first major storm of 2022.
