The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Institute for Water Resources (IWR) was established to provide forward-looking analysis, cutting-edge methodologies, and innovative tools to aid USACE’s Civil Works program.

IWR strives to improve the performance of the USACE water resources program through analysis of emerging water resources trends and issues; development, distribution, and training in the use of state-of-the-art methods and models in the areas of planning, operations, and civil engineering; and national data management of results-oriented program and project information across Civil Works business lines. In addition to implementing this vision throughout core mission areas, IWR oversees seven Centers that provide targeted technical expertise and support.

U.S. climate risk tool gets French, Arabic translations
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (March 15, 2023) – The Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA) methodology, has been translated into French and Arabic, increasing global acceptance of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Institute for Water Resources climate change adaptation tool. IWR names top employees, teams and products for 2022
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Feb. 23, 2023) – The Institute for Water Resources (IWR) has named its best of the best during their annual awards ceremony. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ field operating activity held the recognition during a townhall honoring employees for their contributions and accomplishments across all IWR Centers. IWR Director, Dr. Joe Manous, pictured top of image, congratulated the winners, thanking them for their dedication and achievements.

U.S. and Netherlands team up on the topic of water

Hydrologic Engineering Center staff lead training on HEC-RAS in India
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Oct. 13, 2022) -- Stanford Gibson (center), Cameron Ackerman (second from right) and Alex Sanchez (far right), senior hydraulic engineers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer - Institute for Water Resources, Hydrologic Engineering Center delivered training in Roorkee, India from Sept. 26-29 on their modeling and simulation software, known as HEC-RAS (River Analysis System).
