Nashville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

The Electronics Services Section built and coded the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, which is currently being put in all 9 Nashville District hydropower plants and 1 Detroit District hydropower plant. The control system will allow Corps engineers to operate all 10 hydropower plants from two central locations within the Nashville District. Electrical Engineer Skylar Holloway, Senior Electronics Mechanic Allen Hay, Hydropower Plant Senior Electronics Engineer Luke Ditto, and ESS Supervisor Richard Reiger show the Remote Terminal Unit simulator the team built and used to conduct testing before making and coding the system currently being installed at the Corps hydropower plants.

Nashville District Engineers build and install new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (April 3, 2023)— The Nashville District Corps of Engineers installed the first part of a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system at J. Percy Priest hydropower plant located in Nashville, Tennessee, and it is remotely operated from Old Hickory hydropower plant in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Pleasant Grove closing for parking lot paving

CELINA, Tenn. (March 30, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Pleasant Grove Recreation Area at Dale Hollow Lake in Celina, Tennessee, is closing to all recreational use beginning on or around April 6, 2023, to repair, pave and stripe the parking lot. The anticipated closure should last through April 20, 2023. This timeframe may adjust based on weather.

Old Hickory Lake clearing storm debris as campgrounds reopen

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 30, 2023) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is working to remove storm debris from Cages Bend Campground in Gallatin, Tennessee, and Cedar Creek Campground in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, on the shoreline of Old Hickory Lake. Both campgrounds open Saturday, April 1, as scheduled.

Communities spanning two counties dedicate Periwinkle Trail

GRANVILLE, Tenn. (March 28, 2023) - The communities of Smith County, Jackson County and the “Friends of Cordell Hull Lake” dedicated Periwinkle Trail March 25, 2023, at the Indian Creek Archery Range trailhead. The newly constructed trail provides hikers a new path to experience the outdoors and creates a bond between the two counties.

Maintenance Support Team, Lock engineers tackle tough jobs

GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (March 10, 2023) – Nashville District Maintenance Support Team and engineers from Kentucky Lock and Barkley Lock onboard the Motor Vessel Iroquois repaired a mooring cell by replacing broken and outdated parts this week just upstream of Kentucky Lock on the Tennessee River in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
