SHARE ON:
The Current Employment Statistics (CES) program produces detailed industry estimates of employment, hours, and earnings of workers on nonfarm payrolls. CES State and Metro Area produces data for all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and about 450 metropolitan areas and divisions. CES National Estimates produces estimates for the nation.
Each month, CES surveys approximately 122,000 businesses and government agencies, representing 666,000 individual worksites.

February jobless rates down in 9 states, up in 3; payroll jobs up in 6 states

In February, unemployment rates were lower in 9 states, higher in 3 states and
the District of Columbia, and stable in 38 states. Nonfarm payroll employment
increased in 6 states and was essentially unchanged in 44 states and the District.

Jobless rates were lower in January than a year earlier in 297 of the 389
metropolitan areas, higher in 73, and unchanged in 19. Nonfarm payroll
employment increased over the year in 135 metropolitan areas and was
essentially unchanged in 254.

Employment up 5.9 percent in Charleston and Dallas metro areas, December 2021 to December 2022
From December 2021 to December 2022, nonfarm payroll employment increased in 81 metropolitan areas and was essentially unchanged in 308 areas. The largest over-the-year percentage gains in employment occurred in Charleston-North Charleston, South Carolina, and Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas (+5.9 percent each), followed by Atlantic City-Hammonton, New Jersey (+5.8 percent).
