Reviews of Chicago Drywall Companies

Project: Install Drywall
Brookfield, IL

Rick and his crew were great to work with! They answered all of questions and met all of our drywall needs. Very friendly and efficient! I would definitely recommend Diaz renovations for any home repair needs.

Project: Install Drywall
Forest Park, IL

They did exactly what they agreed to, in a timely manner. Their workers were careful and friendly. They arrived on time, worked hard until the job was done and cleaned up thoroughly when they left. The job ended up taking longer than expected, not due to their work but due to site issues. They completed the work in the minimum time, doing excellent work, and did not charge more when they had to expend some additional effort. They reached out to make sure that after all the work was done, I was still happy and satisfied. We are planning additional work, and plan on using them again.

Project: Install Drywall
Brookfield, IL

Rick and his crew are great to work with. They are all prompt, respectful, and very nice. We asked them to do a full remodel on a gutted room and it looks awesome. Asked them to install a window w/a brick exterior, drywall ceiling and walls and refinish floors. Would definetely hire them again.

Ideas & Inspiration from Chicago Drywall & Plaster Contractors

Chicago Drywall Installation

In and around Chicago, drywall installation is a part of nearly every new construction or remodel that takes place. In fact, drywall is one of the most popular construction materials in the country, and for good reason, too. It's less expensive than wood paneling, more attractive and more versatile than cinder block, and far less messy than the plaster it was designed to compete with. Though not without its limitations, drywall has easily overtaken all other materials for the construction of interior walls. If you're planning to do some remodeling in Chicago, drywall installation is something you'll most likely have to deal with, and having a good understanding of the process before you begin (and drywall's benefits and drawbacks as a material) is a good idea.

Pros and Cons
As far as benefits go, drywall has them to spare. It's relatively easy to put up, comparatively cheap to purchase, and is versatile enough to put almost anywhere. In most scenarios, you'd be hard pressed to find a better choice for your new home interior than what you can get with drywall installation. Chicago residents with a "do-it-yourself" attitude will also be happy to know that most aspects of drywall installation are very DIY friendly.

Unfortunately, there are a few things that make drywall a bad choice in some scenarios. When exposed to excessive moisture, drywall can literally crumble. This makes it a poor material for places like bathrooms. Additionally, it is not the strongest material in the world. It can dent or puncture under even moderate impact. A fast moving doorknob or remote control (that's right, sports fans) can definitely damage your drywall, though repairs are generally inexpensive.

DIY Installation
Handymen or women looking for a challenging but doable do-it-yourself project will find a friend in drywall installation. Chicago residents will find that they will most likely save some money by doing part or all of this project themselves, and often won't have to purchase or rent too many pieces of equipment they don't already own. In places like garages or workspaces where function far outweighs form, most people with even a moderate amount of handiness should be able to do a passable job putting up their own drywall.

Drywall Finishing
This is where a professional hand can really make a difference. While it's fine to save a buck or two in the early stages of drywall installation (and, though it's not Manhattan, the price of living is still no joke in Chicago), drywall finishing is a pretty tricky job that even someone with a bit of experience might leave to the pros. You can find many resources at your local library, on television, or on the internet that will make the finishing process look deceptively simple, but when you try it for the first time, there will be no question that this aspect of drywall installation is no walk in the park.

If you want to attempt this yourself, make sure to get some practice in an out-of-the-way spot. With the tape and joint compound necessary to finish drywall, the job can get messy very quickly. You'll definitely want to make your first few attempts in a garage or closet before you attempt to finish the drywall in your living room!

Prices of Installation and Repair
We've seen Windy City installation prices ranging from as low as $900 to as high as $6,000, depending on the size and complexity of the job. This means that the total cost can go well above the national average of just more than $2,000 in and around Chicago. Drywall finishing is, again, the most difficult and technique-heavy aspect of the process, so you can cut costs considerably by hanging the drywall yourself and only calling in the pros at the end. As for drywall repair, Chicago residents can expect their bills to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 to $600, though we've seen a few exceptionally complicated jobs cost as much as $1,200.
