How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because the only thing standing between modern, comfortable air conditioning, and seeking shade under and tree or huddling around a campfire to keep warm like early humans did, is an HVAC contractor. I think that's pretty cool. I love the people in this trade, and I love the customers we serve. That's why we're in business.

Community Involvement

We donate labor and materials to new home builds as part of a program to provide struggling families with a donated home.

Each year we sponsor a family for Christmas that has fallen on hard times. Our employees chip in to buy them gifts and food so that they can have a complete Christmas.

Each year we do a "Socktober" drive. The whole company chips in to provide socks, blankets, and other warming materials to a local charity group.

We absolutely love giving back to our community - if you have any ideas on how we can do this more, please let us know!

This company was amazing to work with! The technicians that came out were very friendly and helpful. Finished product looked great and their pricing compared to other local vendors was amazing. I went with this company based on reviews and word of mouth and so far I have not been disappointed. Even after a new furnace install, my heat pump was causing issues. They sent techs out the following two days and worked diligently to solve the problem. All of my questions were answered. I will be using Hurliman again in the future! Thank you to Bart, Cade, Jerry and Eric for all you did!

Cameron was very thorough and checking the gas fireplace to make sure that it was safe. He went above and beyond by checking the furnace as well. He explained everything in detail and did an awesome job.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
