"I contacted Apollo drain and rooter service today regarding a clogged drain line in our basement. They were able to get a technician out within 3 hours. Eulises called me to say that he would be here in 20 minutes. He arrived within that time frame. Eulises looked at our issue and gave me a fair quote for the needed work. He then proceeded to do the work and fixed our problem. He was very careful to explain what he was doing. When Eulises was finished he was very meticulous in cleaning up the work area. He then took the time to explain the warranty to me and how to follow up with keeping our drain from clogging up again. Eulises was very kind and professional in his time at our house. I would recommend Eulises to anyone needing this kind of service. Gene"

"Our furnace had stopped responding to the signals from the thermostat since this morning. I searched for the furnace repair company after lunch time on Angie's website and found Earthwise heating and cooling. I sent a request to them around 2 pm. I got a phone call from them within 10 minutes. I was told he would send a technician within one hour. Thomas arrived around 3pm to take a look at the furnace. He found a dusty sensor and recommended to do the general furnace maintenance which cost as much as the visit. He was pretty professional and knowledgeable. Whole experience was great! It's little after 4 pm now. I can't believe that I am already writing a review of the company. I definitely recommend Earthwise Heating and Cooling."

"I was referred to Ybarra by a friend who had their kitchen done. I was in love with the cabinets and the end result of it all and asked her who her contractor was. Ryan and Levi were so helpful and catered to my specific requests and time frames because I work a night job. Their crew went above and beyond, replied to my late-night text messages and the concerns I had about my dogs getting out while they were working. They made sure to clean and lock up every time they left and were very courteous about trying to keep the noise down while I slept, which was very nice of them as well. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of it all!! Highly recommend Ybarra Professionals!"

"Wes provided excellent service, fixing my broken water heater. He was courteous and took time to explain everything he was doing. He went beyond the basic repair by replacing both elements, both thermostats and re-doing the wiring, while staying within the cost estimate. He was prompt and efficient, and cleaned up when he was done. I highly recommend NW Sundance Services."

I called him he came out that day and within two days I had a complete new heat pump, air handler etc... Portland Heating Systems

Although "green" heating systems garner all the headlines, Portland homeowners are more likely to need repair and troubleshooting services for their current heating systems. Should your Portland heating system fail, energy efficiency will fall into the background faster than you can make a cup of hot chocolate or macchiato. If you're already in this dilemma, submit a request and you will begin to hear from our prescreened contractors immediately. Our online database of customer ratings and reviews shows you what other homeowners have thought about their experience with individual contractors. It also shows that some homeowners have even gotten their heating system repaired the same day! In addition, as with any quality-controlled database of customer reviews, it provides a powerful motivator for contractors to meet and exceed your expectations.

Ideally, you should look to identify problems with your heating system before it fails. A diligent eye is great, and you should turn your system on for about an hour during the fall, so you can have a professional fix any problems before the winter season rush makes schedule openings rare for contractors. With a little planning, there is no reason you can't take great care of your current system and be ready to pull the trigger on a new, energy-efficient heating system when the time comes. Keep in mind that when you're under the time constraint of getting some type of home heating system up and running, your options will be unfortunately limited.

Green Heating Systems

Geothermal Heat Pumps: By using the consistently moderate temperatures underneath the Earth's surface, these heat pumps work by exchanging above ground air particles with these subterranean air particles. Extremely energy efficient and generally eco-friendly, perhaps the best part of this heating system is the fact that it doubles as a cooling system, for those rare, warm summer days.

Solar Heating Panels: Expensive to install, solar heating panels can all but eliminate home heating costs, including your hot water heating. It can also work as a pool heater, extending the usability of a residential pool or even the plausibility of installing a pool in the first place. Don't be fooled by the rain and clouds, either. Portland receives just as much solar energy as the average U.S. city.

Hydronic Heating: With hydronic heating, water coils make transporting and transferring heat throughout your home more efficient. The low specific heat of these coils reduces the amount of lost energy and creates a radiant heat source. Typically, these coils are installed underneath your flooring, although if no space is available, they can also be placed behind your walls.

Cost of Heating Systems
Although the average cost of installing a heating system is about $5,000, we've recently seen units installed for as little as $2,000 and rarely do we see a project eclipse the $6,000 mark. The relatively low cost of Portland heating systems is undoubtedly linked to lower capacity needs afforded by the fact that the temperature rarely drops below freezing. As for repair costs, our data suggests an average of about $250 with a range of about $100 to $900. Anything more than $1,000 probably means a better bet is to use this money toward a heating system replacement.
