This bipartisan budget agreement delivers on our nation’s promise to care for Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors. I thank and Congressional leaders for getting this deal done – and I urge its swift passage.

Speaker McCarthy and I reached a bipartisan budget agreement that will prevent the worst possible crisis – a default for the first time in our nation’s history. This deal is good news for the American people. I strongly urge Congress to pass the agreement right away.
The Bipartisan Budget Agreement:
1. Prevents a first-ever default
2. Protects President Biden’s key priorities and accomplishments
3. Rejects extreme cuts to programs veterans, seniors, and families count on
4. Protects Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid
5. Keeps President Biden’s student loan relief program for 40 million hardworking borrowers

Every freedom we enjoy today is made possible by our men and women in uniform. On Memorial Day, I invite you to join me in pausing to remember, honor and express gratitude to our fellow Americans who lost their lives while wearing that uniform.

1/2 Congratulations to Deputy USH Dr. Steve Lieberman for being honored by the Commandant of the Marine Corps for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic! It’s not every day you are celebrated with a parade, but it should be.

The PACT Act is the largest expansion of #VA benefits in a generation. I’m proud to say that VA has processed more than 250K claims under the Act—and we continue to staff up to more efficiently screen & provide care to more #Veterans.

The PACT Act adds more than 20 new presumptive conditions — including hypertension, various cancers, and chronic respiratory conditions. If you’re a Veteran and haven’t had your toxic exposure screening yet, come to VA.

It was an honor to join Veterans, families, caregivers, and advocates who gathered in DC yesterday to promote caregiver mental health and well-being. VA works for you – I work for you – and we are going to continue to fulfill President Lincoln’s promise.
