Mission

Office of Evaluations and Special Projects Video OverviewThe Office of Evaluations and Special Projects strengthens OIG’s oversight of the Department and improves OIG’s capabilities to educate employees regarding whistleblower protections. This office also reviews allegations of administrative misconduct by senior officials and issues management alerts and management assistance reports to highlight urgent needs for corrective actions, as well as capping reports on thematic areas of concern. It also conducts special evaluations and reviews, including responses to congressional inquiries. This office’s work complements the work of OIG’s Offices of Audits, Inspections, and Investigations by developing a capacity to focus on broader systemic issues. 

Processes

The office conducts management and programmatic evaluations to provide insight into issues of concern to the Department, USAGM, Congress, and the American public. The office accomplishes this mission by analyzing patterns and practices that contribute to waste and abuse of tax dollars, investigating misconduct allegations and allegations of whistleblower retaliation, managing OIG’s Whistleblower Protection Program, and conducting special reviews.
