Registration FAQs
The HLC Annual Conference is intended for members of the higher education community to learn information and promising practices from fellow practitioners and the HLC staff. Administrative professionals, faculty members, CEOs, presidents and chancellors, and HLC institutional representatives and peer reviewers are encouraged to attend. Some programming during the conference is exclusive to representatives of member institutions that have an accreditation relationship with HLC. Visit the conference program page to view the intended audience of each program.
The General Program will begin on Sunday, March 26 at 9 a.m. CT, running through Tuesday, March 28 at Noon CT. Pre-conference programs will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
All programs will take place in person in Chicago for the 2023 Annual Conference. Certain slides may be accessed during and after the conference. HLC also offers a variety of virtual programming opportunities throughout the year. View the calendar of virtual and in-person events for institutions and peer reviewers.
Registered attendees of the General Program at the 2023 Annual Conference will be able to:
- Access all sessions, including the Welcome Address, Keynotes and Closing Address, as well as presentations by HLC and member institutions.
- Access all networking breaks and continental breakfasts on Sunday and Monday (March 26-27).
- Connect with other attendees, speakers and exhibitors in person and through the mobile app.
- View Academy Posters during the Poster Fair.
- Access exhibitor showcases to explore the latest products and services from sponsors and exhibitors.
Additional fees will be charged for pre-conference programs (the Preparing Effective Administrators Workshop, Supporting Student Success Workshop, Seeking Accreditation Workshop, Peer Review Updates and Training and Conversations with Presidents and Trustees Program).
Register by February 3, 2023 to take advantage of early bird rates. Standard rates will then be available until March 23, after which on-site registration rates will apply through the end of the conference (see Program Fees).
This program is limited to the Chief Executive Officer and Trustees from member and non-member institutions. No substitutions are permitted. Registration is limited to four attendees per institution.
Current members of the Peer Corps are welcome to attend this program to refresh their skills and gain new knowledge of pathways processes. The program is designed for experienced peer reviewers who have already participated in accreditation activities, though newly trained and less experienced peer reviewers will certainly find it informative. Except as noted in the final program, this program does not constitute the specific training that may be required for certain peer review roles.
Traditionally held during the Annual Conference, the Accreditation Workshop covered a variety of topics surrounding HLC accreditation policies and procedures. These topics continue to be included in sessions throughout the conference General Program. New opportunities outside of the Annual Conference are also being developed, so that institutions can gain insights and receive guidance on accreditation processes throughout the academic year. Offerings will be posted on the Calendar of Events as they become available.

Payment is due upon receipt of invoice. The invoice will be included in the confirmation email after your registration has been submitted. Checks must be received within 30 days of the registration date. After 30 days, registration(s) must be paid via credit card to avoid cancellation. Registration Changes and Cancellations
Cancellations
All cancellation requests must be sent to HLC in writing using the online cancellation form. Refunds resulting from cancellations will be based on the following dates:
- Cancellations requested on or before January 20, 2023 will be eligible for a full refund less a $75 processing fee per person.
- Cancellations requested between January 21 and March 24, 2023 will be eligible for a 50% refund less a $75 processing fee per person.
- No-shows or cancellations requested on or after March 25, 2023 are not eligible for a refund.
Registration Transfers
If a registered attendee is unable to attend the Conference, their registration may be transferred to another person who is not already registered for the Conference at the same institution or organization at no additional charge. Transfers can be made by calling 866.497.1232.
Program Changes
A $50 processing fee will be charged for all requests to remove a program from an existing Conference registration. Attendees will be refunded the cost of the program, less the processing fee, on or before March 22, 2023. No refunds for requests to remove a program from an existing Conference registration will be issued on or after March 23, 2023.
Refunds
Credit card refunds will be processed within two business days. Check refunds will be processed within 15 business days of receiving the request.
