Our Story
We’re an overnight success, 13 years in the making. In 2009, our founder & CEO, Syed Balkhi, started a free blog called WPBeginner to help non-techy small business owners learn how to build & grow their websites.
Over the next few years, WPBeginner quickly grew into becoming the largest free WordPress resource site for beginners. This helped us gain a unique understanding of the challenges and problems many of our readers were facing in growing their web presence.
It helped us identify three key areas to focus: tools, teams, and training.
At this time, we made it our mission to help level the playing field for small businesses, so they can grow and compete with the big guys through our superior growth tools, helpful training, and amazing support team.
Over the next years to come, Awesome Motive expanded into building software and today is one of the leading software companies in the world with over 21 million websites using our tools to grow their business.

By having a purpose-driven distributed team across over 45 countries, we are able to build superior tools and training to help more small business owners grow their online presence.
One of our core principles is to put People First, always. We believe that businesses are built to serve people, and the profits should be used to impact those in and around the business. In our case, people who use our product (our customers), and people who build it (our team).
