"I have had the pleasure of Greg Freedmanâ s help at my own home, plus seen his work at a couple other properties. Our upstairs bathroom sustained water damage from kids splashing water out of the tub over the years. Greg quickly assessed the situation, removed the toilet and sub-flooring to beef up the joists and laid down new sub-flooring and new floor boards. I observed his focused style. He listened to my description of the floor problem and promptly determined what needed to be done and what materials were required. He worked quickly and finished leaving a clean work site. I have seen some of his skills displayed at two other homes where he removed a tree from the yard, painted the interior and exterior of a couple houses, put new tile in a couple bathrooms, and replaced cabinets in a large kitchen. Greg is a multi-skilled craftsman with a diligent work style. If you have a home-related repair or remodeling project, I highly recommend that you contact him for a bid!"

"My wife and I contacted The Attic Experts to (1) improve the insulation for our attic ceiling and upstairs crawl spaces and (2) replace/install the two bathroom vent fans in our upstairs bathroom from ones that were 70CFM to 130CFM. We could not be happier with the work that they did. I think the main word that comes to mind with these guys is PROFESSIONALISM! Every single person we came in contact with was professional from the beginning to end of the process. We started by having a quote/inspection from Nick who did a great job of walking us through what our current state of insulation was and what they proposed to do to improve it. Our insulation was initially at an R value of 19 and their proposal was to boost it slightly over 49 (they always add a little bit more than what they quote you for). Nick brought a laptop over as well to help walk us through the technology and what they would actually do to insulate our space further. I then had a few discussions with Brian (the owner) who was very polite, reassuring, and helpful in educating us about the remaining questions we had before signing on. We live in a Cape Cod style home which usually has a trickier attic to access and Brian really helped put me at ease in explaining that this style home is actually their specialty. When the day came to do the work, Marty, Joe, and Jon were our three-man crew who did the work and were also super professional, showing up right on time and updating me as they worked through the project. I worked at home on our lower level while they did the work on our upper level and it was surprisingly quiet for most of the day! They also do a great job of keeping the space clean before, during, and then after (place down moving blankets on the floor, plastic over furniture, etc.). While the insulation part of the job went smoothly, the bath fans I had bought were too big to fit in our attic (had too much depth). Joe went above and beyond and found a nice replacement set on the fly that still had better airflow (110 CFM) but actually fit our ceiling! We were able to buy those on the same day and then I had returned my other ones that did not fit without issue (even though they opened those ones, they were so careful to not destroy the boxes so that Home Depot wouldnâ t give me a hard time returning them). Since having the work done, we were able to instantly notice that our upper level was a bit warmer even without turning the heat on, especially in our closet area which would always be FREEZING this time of year. The other noticeable benefit was that the upstairs level was quieter once the added insulation was installed. For instance, it rained the night after they finished the job and we could barely hear it from our bedroom (whereas it definitely would have been louder prior to). In sum, we cannot say enough great things about them and highly recommend them!"

What is insulation?
Insulation is material that provides a barrier within a home’s walls, ceilings, and floors to regulate temperature and noise. If your home gets overly hot in the summer and cold in the winter, it’s likely not insulated properly.
Insulation efficiency is measured by R-value, which determines how resistant different types of insulation are to heat flow (or energy loss). R-values are measured by inch of thickness. The higher the R-value, the better the performance and the higher the price.
How much does insulation cost?
+
How much does insulation cost?
Our project data lists insulation costs between $1,400 and $6,300, but your final price will depend on the type of insulation you choose, its R-value, and how much you need.
- Fiberglass insulation: $0.30 – $1.50
- Blown-in insulation: $1 – $2
- Spray foam insulation: $0.50 – $2
- Radiant insulation: $0.20 – $1
- Rigid board insulation: $0.25 – $1
Luckily, insulation is one of the best investments you can make in your home—it has an ROI of at least 100%, meaning you’ll likely make back what you spend in a few years or so.

What is insulation made of?
Insulation is made of many different materials, which can also impact the R-value needed for energy efficiency.
- Fiberglass: The most common insulation material made from glass. Fiberglass is a skin and lung irritant, so you’ll need to wear gloves and clothing when working with fiberglass insulation.
- Cellulose: Made from recycled paper products, plus borate for fire and insect resistance.
- Foam: Made from polystyrene, polyisocyanurate, or polyurethane plastic. You can also install cement-based foam insulation using rigid foam boards.
- Mineral wool: Made of fire-resistant rock wool, a mix of natural materials, or slag wool, made from a molten metal product.
- Natural fibers: Made from various recycled natural materials, including cotton, sheep’s wool, and straw.
Where is insulation in a house?

Where is insulation in a house?
If your attic is unfinished or you’ve ever demolished an interior wall, you might notice batt or spray foam insulation between the studs. Putting insulation between your walls and floors helps keep your home comfortable and your energy costs down. In addition to walls and attics, you can install insulation in your garage, in floors above vented crawl spaces, and basements.
- Garage Insulation: $0.50 to $1.25 per square foot
- Floor and crawl space insulation: $1 to $5 per square foot
- Basement insulation: $1.50 to $2.50 per square foot
- Wall insulation: $1 to $4 per square foot
- Attic insulation: $1,500 to $6,000
- Roof insulation: $1,500 to $4,500 or more
What are the different types of insulation?
+
What are the different types of insulation?
There are a few types of home insulation, and they all are made of different materials— most commonly, fiberglass, cellulose, and foam. Insulation includes these materials in the following forms:
- Loose-fill: Also called “blown-in,” loose-fill is sprayed into wall cavities, attics, and other oddly-shaped areas using special equipment. This insulation is usually made of fiberglass, cellulose, or mineral wool.
- Batts: An affordable insulation blanket best for unfinished spaces, such as between framing, studs, or joists. They come in pre-cut sections suitable for DIY installation and are mostly made from fiberglass, though other versions are also available.
- Rolls: Similar to batt insulation, but comes in rolls. Its make-up leaves less chance for gaps between sections and is more efficient than other types.
- Foam board: One of the most popular insulation types that can be used almost anywhere in your home. Foam boards also have a high R-value.
- Spray foam: Expands and hardens to fill gaps, small and large. Can be closed-cell or open-cell, but closed-cell has a higher R-value, making it more expensive per square foot.
- Radiant barriers: Does not reduce heat flow but directs heat away from the home instead. Radiant barriers are DIY-friendly and affordable, but they won’t be as effective in the winter months.
