We discovered that the exterior walls were lacking in insulation. We obtained several quotes for installing insulation. McCoy's came out lowest and in fact their quote was cheaper than purchasing the insulation ourselves and installing it. Carl McCoy, the company owner, was informative on the phone and his son came out and installed the insulation. Tri County Insulation
Pros: They did a good job minimizing the holes (in exterior stucco) for blown-in insulation in the exterior walls of our house which previously lacked insulation. They also provided documentation (after being requested) of insulation breakdown for utility/tax rebate purposes. Cons: It was challenging trying to communicate and coordinate between our general contractor and Tri-County for our insulation wishes. To be honest, the issues stemmed from not getting clarification from either party in a prompt manner. Perhaps as a subcontractor they felt uncomfortable speaking with us. However, we are in the habit of trying to keep all parties (us, the general contractor, and another subcontractors or third party contractors) in the loop, and usually that succeeded for us. Somewhat disappointed that didn't happen with our experience with Tri-County. Issues: 1. We wanted insulation in all new interior walls, but only some got insulated. 2. We wanted rollable fiberglass instead of blow-in insulation in the attic. 3. Informing us as to the actual schedule of insulation installation. The communication problems are the main reason why we would not recommend Tri-County for insulation work

Joel came and did an estimate for us today. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and delightfully honest. I previously had another company come out and give me an estimate. That company wanted to charge ~$4,000 to remove existing attic insulation and add R38. They also wanted to charge ~$3,000 to add wall insulation. Joel inspected my attic and told me the insulation was actually R30 already and looked to be in good condition. He didn't recommend adding any more. Joel also inspected the walls and it turns out it already had insulation in them. THANK YOU Joel for being so honest and saving us a ton of money! I would highly recommend him (and Bay Valley Insulation) to everyone I know and to others on Yelp. Also, he did write us a very reasonable estimate to boost our insulation to R48 if we wanted to go the extra mile

SDI INSULATION
SDI Insulation is one of the best companies I’ve worked with. Everyone there (i.e. Kris Khoury, Steve Pearce) are professionals, punctual and responsive (to email and phone). However, I think the true test for customer service is when something actually goes wrong. During the wall insulation, one of the interior walls cracked from the blower pressure. Unfortunately, we didn’t notice this until after SDI left our house. When we called to tell them, they promptly sent Steve out to take pictures and schedule the dry wall contractor and painting contractor to come out to fix it. Finally, they were also very helpful about sending us all the necessary documentation to claim the PGand E rebate and the federal tax credits

I was very pleased with them. Everything was perfect. They came when they were supposed to be here. They cleaned up after themselves. They were polite. I would use them again. They talked me out of the higher grade of insulation, because of the age of the house. In the long run it would not pay off. I really appreciated his honesty about that. My experience with Univeral Insulation has been positive. Jim came to my house and thoroughly described the work to be done. The workers arrived on time,reviewed the work layout, and proceeded to drill the holes and install the insulation. When they found that a cable TV plate covering an opening in the wall had come loose and insulation had started to blow in the house, they immediately cleaned up the carpet, and offered to vacuum the rest of the carpet. It turns out that part of my walls had fiberglass insulation in them (unbeknownst to me), and they promptly adjusted the bill to account for the areas they couldn't fill. The workers were quite professional and courteous. I recommend them to others

Tri-County Insulation was SOOO GREAT to work with, we couldn't have been happier. I got quotes from 3 companies and not only was Steve the friendliest, he listened to what I wanted, gave me options and educated me. My husband had a number of follow-up questions and Steve patiently answered them all thoroughly for us. We choose to work with Tri-County and we are very happy with did. Jesus and Valentine did the removal on a day that was ridiculously hot and yet they had a great sense of humor and joked around with my husband and showed him their truck (he is an engineer so was curious as to how it all worked). They were careful to ensure our house wouldn't be damaged by their equipment and they were respectful, thorough, polite and grateful to be offered a bathroom to use (apparently clients don't do this and they, like all of us, do need to use a bathroom once in a while) and a cold drink. A few weeks later my husband bought some insulation (for a couple of walls) directly from Tri-County and again, Steve was gracious and helpful. Once we have finished up some more work in our attic we will have them back to install insulation. We would ABSOLUTELY use Tri-County Insulation again
